  • NCLS to Hold Fundraising Tennis Tournament This Fall

    Boston, Sept. 12, 2014, Newton Chinese Language School(NCLS) will hold its second adult tennis tournament this fall. Tennis players of all levels are welcome to participate. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the NCLS Support China Education Program.

  • “Media Literacy and Youth Leadership” Seminar Successly Held at Harvard University

    Cambridge, Mass., September 2, 2014, Global Youth Leadership North American Hub(GYLNAH) held “Media Literacy and Youth Leadership” seminar at Harvard Yenching Library on August 27. The speaker, Paul Mihailidis, who is the President of Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change, an Assistant Professor from Emerson College, gave a keynote speech of Media Literacy As Civic Currency. Gang Wu, a visiting scholar of Harvard University and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Chinese National Radio Online made comments as guest speaker. The Seminar was host by Zhang Tong, the Minister of Publicity of Global Youth Leadership North America Hub, and also an Emerson College visiting scholar. About 40 students and visiting scholars from Harvard University, MIT, University of British Columbia, Canada, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Nankai University participated in the seminar.

  • BU President Brown Welcomes New Chinese Students

    Boston, Sept. 6, 2014, –Every September, Boston welcomes tens of thousands of news students. To those Chinese students who came all the way across Pacific Ocean to the States, a new start may be confusing and difficult. This year, Boston University president Robert A. Brown joined the Chinese student orientation and answered questions from those new Chinese students.

  • Finally, 32-Year-Old Wu Shanliu Makes to Tsinghua University

    Beijing, Spet. 4, 2014, — A 32-year-old man who sat 10 National College Entrance Exams since 2000 has finally enrolled in Tsinghua University, one of the top universities in China, the Beijing Times reported on Thursday.

  • University of Utah Links Genetic Mutation to Tibetan High-Altitude Adaptation

    August 28, 2014 – In an environment where others struggle to survive, Tibetans thrive in the thin air on the Tibetan Plateau, with an average elevation of 14,800 feet. A University of Utah led discovery that hinged as much on strides in cultural diplomacy as on scientific advancements, is the first to identify a genetic variation, or mutation, that contributes to the adaptation, and to reveal how it works. The research appears online in the journal Nature Genetics on Aug. 17, 2014.

  • Empow Studios Launches STEM-Enriched Fall Classes and After-School Program

    Lexington, Mass., August 25, 2014 , — Empow Studios recently released a full calendar of fall classes, including seven new classes: Minecraft Animation, Website Design, 3D Modeling and Printing, App Design, Digital Music Production, LEGO Animation, and Game Design with Unity.  There are also two kid-tested favorites: Game Design with Gamemaker and LEGO Robotics.

  • WSU Researchers Find Crucial Step in DNA Repair

    PULLMAN, Wash., August 18, 2014, –- Scientists at Washington State University(WSU) have identified a crucial step in DNA repair that could lead to targeted gene therapy for hereditary diseases such as “children of the moon” and a common form of colon cancer. Such disorders are caused by faulty DNA repair systems that increase the risk for cancer and other conditions.
