Malden Celebrates Lunar New Year
Malden, Mass., Feb. 2, 2016, — Mayor Gary Christenson recently joined Congresswoman Katherine Clark, State Senator Jason Lewis, State Representative Steve Ultrino and City Councillor Ryan O’Malley for a Lunar New Year Celebration. More than 400 attendees celebrated the event as Mayor Christenson wished the Malden Asian Community a prosperous and healthy “Year of the Monkey” in Chinese!

Quincy Residents, Americorps Help Mark MLK Day of Service
Quincy, Mass., — The Houghs Neck Community Council maximized a mini-grant of just over $1,400.00 from the Massachusetts Service Alliance to host a “Martin Luther King Service Day” on Monday, January 18th. State Representative Tackey Chan stopped by to greet the 25 youth, 50 AmeriCorps members, and other adult volunteers. For this second annual event, a combined total of 310 hours were served. Activities produced a collection of 17 winter coats, 143 letters to troops, 264 valentines for seniors, 35 herb gardens, and 87 Goodie Bags for Homeless Children.

Singtao Daily Honored by NACA

Cambridge, Mass., — Awards were handed out at the new year concert of North American Chorus Association (NACA). About 700 music fans attended the concert at Harvard’s Sanders Theatre. Singtao Daily, one of the largest daily Chinese newspapers in the world, was honored at the concert for its detailed reporting of the grand Yellow River Cantata concert last year.
