  • Asian American Voters to Turn Out in Record Numbers Tomorrow

    Boston, Nov. 3, 2014, — With pushes by non-profit organizations such as APIAVote, Silicon Valley Chinese Association (SVCA), The Orange Club, Boston Forward Foundation (BFF) across the nation over past few months, Asian American votes are expected to turned out in record numbers in tomorrow’s midterm election. Their votes will have a significant impact on elections in the federal, state and local levels as low turnouts in the general population are expected.

    The APIAVote Young Voter Initiative is supporting seven university student groups and community-based organizations with youth-led voter mobilization campaigns. Grantees are based in New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Washington state. They are engaging youth in communities and on college campuses with critical numbers of young AAPI voters.

    Boston, Oct. 28, 2014, — With only a week left until the Nov. 4 general elections, Democratic Governor Nominee Martha Coakly and her Republican opponent Charlie Baker are campaigning across the state to make sure their supporters will come on to vote on next Tuesday. Coakley’s campaign got a boost last Friday when Hillary Clinton joined her rally in Boston, and strongly endorsed Coakley’s candidacy. Hillary told supporters that Coakley would become a great Governor for the state if elected.

  • AAPI Community Turns out to Support Martha Coakley for MA Governor

    Boston, Oct. 21, 2014, –AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Community held a Rally for the MA Governor Candidate, bringing community members together to utter a collective voice on Oct. 19 in Boston Chinatown with hundreds of AAPI supporters. Governor Deval Patrick and Attorney General Martha Coakley, who is also the MA Governor Candidate, were the feature speakers. Light receptions and the Chinese lion dance at the Metropolitan Building Courtyard (38 Ash Street, Boston) lightened everybody up in the cold weather.

  • President Carter to Join China Town Hall at Suffolk University

    This year our China Town Hall will be the most exciting yet. President Jimmy Carter will join us via live webcast to talk about US-China Relations and Pacific Strategy. At Suffolk, we will have with us The Honorable Keven Nealer, a member of President Obama’s Intelligence Advisory Board who is experienced in the US involvement with Asia. Also joining us will be BBC Correspondent Bill Hayton, who will tell us about his just-released book The South China Sea: The Struggle for Power in Asia. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing.

  • Boston City Councilors Wu and O’Malley Call for Hearing on Fossil Fuel Divestment
