Empowering Asian-American Performers, Kollaboration Boston 3 to Be Held on October 11

Boston, Sept. 26, 2013, –Far East Movement, Bruno Mars, Brenda Song, Wong Fu Productions, Jabbawockeez from MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, Alexander Wang, Vera Wang, and Jeremy Lin. These have all become household names not only across the country, but the across the world. The ever-growing Asian American presence in mainstream music, film, fashion, production, and sports is spurred by efforts to challenge stereotypes and raise awareness of Asian American issues.

Kollaboration Boston, the Boston chapter of Kollaboration established two years ago, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a creative platform for Asian-American performance artists to showcase their talents. Its mission and mantra is “Empowerment through Entertainment.” In April of 2011, Kollaboration Boston hosted its first show at the John Hancock Hall. The show was tremendously successful and had a sold-out audience of over 1100 attendees. The 2012 show was amazing as well, and Kollaboration Boston continues to push Asian American talent to the forefront of the entertainment industry.

On Friday, October 11, 2013, Kollaboration Boston will be holding the biggest citywide Asian American talent show at Berklee Performance Center for the third year. Organized and planned by 36 students and young professionals in the Greater Boston Area. Some of the city’s best Asian American dancers, musicians, vocalists, rappers, and even yo-yo artists will be featured in our show. They will compete for a $1000 grand prize in front an audience, celebrity guest judges, and guest performers. Boston’s winner will have the chance to compete against other city winners for a $20,000 grand prize at Kollaboration Star in Los Angeles on November 16, 2013.
