“Cultures of China, Festival of spring” Returns to Boston on Feb. 16, 2014

Boston, Jan. 14, 2014, — “Cultures of China, Festival of spring” event is a global celebration organized annually by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is one of the largest cultural celebrations of the Chinese Lunar New Year around the world.

Beijing Opera artists Yu Kuizhi, Li Shengsu will perform at “Cultures of China, Festival of spring” Boston stop on Feb. 16.

Since its establishment in 2009, “Cultures of China, Festival of Spring” has sent more than 27 artistic delegations to over 26 countries and 66 cities, showcasing to the world the unique beauty of Chinese traditional culture and arts. This year, “Cultures of China, Festival of spring” performance will bring some of the best singers and artists in China to Boston.




“Cultures of China, Festival of spring” made its Boston debut in 2009, winning critical acclaim throughout the community. It returns to the city in celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Horse with great anticipation from audiences in the greater Boston area and New England region.

This feast of traditional arts includes Chinese folk songs presented by famous singers Yang Hongji, Dong Wenhua, Cai Guoqing, Liu yanyan. Beijing Opera will be performed by artists Yu Kuizhi, Li Shengsu; Chinese folk dances presented by the Nanjing Battlefront Culture Troupe and traditional Chinese instrument Huqin solo by Huqin performer Yang Jiqiang, etc.
