Lexington, Mass., May 31, 2014, — Wu Ying Vocal Studio held annual concert at Follen Community Church in Lexington, Mass on May 18. A total of 25 Chinese folk songs and Western opera pieces were performed to an audience of about 150.

Mezzo-soprano Ying Wu started the concert with opera Nobles seigneurs. Then singers Jiaming Sun, Austin Sun, Isaac Xu, Soprano Annie Yu, Tenor Mike Wu, Soprano Shirley Wu, Duet Shirley Wu and Mike Wu delivered wonderful performances. Other performers included Westwood Chinese School Chorus, Soprano Lindi Kong, Acton Little Stars, Acton Singing Club and etc. The joint performance by Westwood Chinese School Chorus and Acton Little Stars of a Chinese song Long Wen was definitely one of the highlights of the concert. It combined beautiful vocal, smooth melody and elegant dance moves perfectly. [gallery ids="84387,84386,84385,84384,84383,84382"] Just a week later, some of the singers at this concert also performed at the Spring Love for Autism charity concert at NEC's Jordan Hall in Boston. Ying Wu received a B.A. degree in Hangzhou Normal university, China. After her graduation, she performed as a soloist with the Performing Arts of Beijing Postal for three years. She also taught vocal performances at Beijing Zhongyin Arts School and Hangzhou Municipal Art Center for Youth. Ms. Wu was awarded the “Great Singer” in the 19th “Three Rivers” Singing Competition Finals, “Outstanding Singing” in “Under the Bright Sunlight” National Singing Competition, Second Prize in National Youth Singing Competition Zhejiang Trials and Third Prize in University Drama Challenge Cup. Since 2009, Mr. Wu has studies privately with Wellesley College voice faculty Gale Fuller for two years and New England Conservatory professor D'Anna Fortunato for two years. In 2013, She was back to school and enrolled in the Master of Opera program at Longy school of music of Bard college. Within five years of her moving to Boston, she has successfully established her vocal studio and taught over a hundred students using her unique Ground-Up Vocal Pedagogy. She and her large studio of singers have successfully presented concerts at Follen Church to an overflow audience over past few years. Program 1.
