  • China Shocks the Supercomputer Community Again with HUST’s HPL Championship at ISC 2013

    BEIJING, /PRNewswire/ — On June 19 (German time), the 2013 International Student Cluster Challenge (ISC’13) was closed in Leipzig, Germany. The team from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China has won the Best Linpack award and set a world new record with 8.455TFLOPS. The team from the Centre for High Performance Computing of South Africa won the Overall Best award, and the team from Tsinghua University ranked second in terms of overall score at ISC’13. It is China’s second championship at ISC’13 after Tianhe-2 claimed the lead in the Top500 list. The world is marveling at China’s rapid development in system research, application development, and talent education in the field of supercomputers.

  • Dr. Hangming Yang Receives Distinguished Career in Science Award at 2013 Bridge Medical Summit

    Nov. 8, 2013, — Started two years ago by doctors and researchers at American Chinese Medical Association (ACMA), Bridge Medical Summit (BMS) has become a new Fall tradition in Boston’s medical district. This year’s BMS has been successfully held at Boston Children’s Hospital on Oct. 26. With focuses on Medical Education, Cancer Prevention & Screening, Genetics and Proteomics as well as Healthcare Issues in the US and China, BMS III has interpreted complicated medical language into presentations and speeches that could be understood by the public.

  • 波士顿华人团结声讨ABC播出辱华节目

    【波士顿华人双语网特约记者谢婉珍报道】11月9日，寒风凛冽，可是在波士顿市中心的波士顿公园（Boston Common）却聚集了几百名热血沸腾的华人，大声抗议ABC的一档由金梅尔（Jimmy Kimmel）主持的辱华谈话秀节目。来自麻州各地的华人同胞表现出空前的团结，好多人是和朋友家人一起来的，有些是拖儿带女全家出动的，还有几位七十多岁的老者也冒着严寒参加了当天的抗议活动，说是为了我们华人的后代不再被歧视，再冷也要来抗议。

  • 芝城华商会亲善大使选美 21岁大学生夺冠

    【波士顿华人双语网综合报道】11月3日晚，芝加哥华商会亲善大使选美（Miss Friendship Ambassador pageant）在芝城希尔顿酒店举行。十位在预选赛中入围的佳丽经过晚装、泳装、旗袍、答问等环节的比赛，21岁迪保（DePaul）大学学生区思敏（Jessica Ou）脱颖而出，夺得桂冠。而人气颇高的26岁西北大学毕业生张羽琪（Jennifer Zhang）和26岁的印第安纳大学毕业生陈之莹（Connie Chan）也入围前三名。胡嘉玲（Amy Wu）则获得友谊小姐。

  • Five Ways to Make Donations for Typhoon Haiyan Victims

    Typhoon Haiyan swept across the central Philippines on Nov. 8, 2013 with max wind speed topping 200 mph. It left a trail of massive destruction in its wake. With sustained wind speed at 145 mph, Haiyan was the second category 5 typhoon to strike the island nation this year.

  • World War II Veteran Arthur Wong Joins Protest Against ABC in Boston Common

    Boston, Nov. 11, 2013, — Today, Mr. Arthur Wong of Boston Chinatown celebrates 68th Veteran’s Day after he returned from battlegrounds of Europe in 1945. Nineteen-year-old Arthur Wong found himself on Omaha Beach on D-day (June 6, 1944). Five months later, he was seriously injured during a firefight in Germany. He returned Boston after a few months treatment in a hospital in southern France.

  • 自由之旅——纽约华人连续两天举行抗议ABC示威

    【波士顿华人双语网综合报道】11月8日，数百名抗议者在纽约ABC总部外该电视台脱口秀明星吉米·金梅尔在主持的节目中播出“杀光中国人”的言论。在10月16日播出的节目组，当吉米·金梅尔问四个孩子该如何解决美国欠中国1.3万亿美元的债务时，一个6岁的男孩建议“杀光中国人（kill everyone in China）”。金梅尔回应说：“这是一个有趣的主意”，后来又问孩子们：“我们应该让中国人活着吗？”

  • What a Journey — Protests Against ABC on Back-to-back Days in NYC

    New York City, November 9, 2013, — Hundreds of protesters showed up outside ABC headquaters to protest against ABC network and its Jimmy Kimmel Live show yesterday. In the Kids Table segment aired on Oct. 16, a six-year-old boy suggested “kill everyone in China” when Jimmy Kimmel asked how to resolve the $1.3 trillion US debt to China. Jimmy Kimmel responded by saying “It’s an interesting idea”, and later asked the kids “Should we allow the Chinese to live?”
