【波士頓華人雙語網李強報道】8月17日，由中華表演藝術基金會舉辦的第22屆胡桃山音樂營在內迪克（Natick）鎮的胡桃山音樂學校落下帷幕。來自中國大陸、台灣、加拿大、新加坡、越南及美國的44位學生在3周的音樂營期間，得到知名音樂學院教授的指導，並聆聽了小提琴家於翔、大提琴家易周、鋼琴天才黎卓宇等波士頓地區青年音樂家的精彩表演。

Chinese Actress Liu Xiaoqing Back to Beijing after Wedding in California

California has become a popular destination for couples from China to hold weddings. Recently, a celebrity from China also tied the knot at the Sunshine State. One of the top actresses in her prime, 62-year-old Liu Xiaoqing married 71-year-old Mr. William Xiaoyu Wang at Valley Presbyterian Church in San Francisco on August 20. According to her agent, Liu Xiaoqing is back to Beijing now after spending a couple weeks in San Fran area.

中新网北京9月2日电(记者 阚枫)9月1日，官方发布消息，国务院国资委主任、党委副书记蒋洁敏涉嫌严重违纪，目前正接受组织调查。
至此，十八大以来已有9名省部级官员落马。前不久，中共中央政治局会议又审议通过《建立健全惩治和预防腐败体系2013-2017年工作规划》。权威反腐专家指出，一系列事实表明，新一届中央领导集体的反腐力度为近三十年来最大，彰显“有腐必反”的坚强决心。

华人风采——葛芮：致力保护野生动物16年
【葛芮1984年毕业于北京广播学院，之后加入中央电视台国际频道。为了更好的实现自己的新闻理想，她就读于美国犹他大学大众媒介系继续深造获得硕士学位。之后在美国犹他州电视台，担任新闻节目的编导。1996年受国际爱护动物基金会（简称IFAW）邀请参加报道广东省林业厅和IFAW共同解救8头遭受残酷的活体取胆的亚洲黑熊的行动。这一次报道，改变了葛芮的命运。之后她放弃了在电视台清闲而酬劳优厚的工作和在美国安逸的家庭生活，回归祖国担任国际爱护动物基金会中国代表，并在北京建立了国际爱护动物基金会的中国办公室。】

The United States Government assesses with high confidence that the Syrian government carried out a chemical weapons attack in the Damascus suburbs on August 21, 2013. We further assess that the regime used a nerve agent in the attack. These all-source assessments are based on human, signals, and geospatial intelligence as well as a significant body of open source reporting. Our classified assessments have been shared with the U.S. Congress and key international partners. To protect sources and methods, we cannot publicly release all available intelligence – but what follows is an unclassified summary of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s analysis of what took place.

罗德岛大学孔院成功举办第二届中文教师培训班
【文：罗德岛大学孔子学院吴悦、图：张迟】随着“汉语热”在美国的持续升温，越来越多的学校开设了中文课程，对中文教师的需求量也日益增加，这使得中文教师成为就业的新热点。然而目前从业的中文教师大多不是对外汉语专业出身，在知识结构和理念方法上都存在较大的欠缺，他们非常希望通过系统而专业的培训来提高自身的业务素质，以适应教学和科研的需要。为了满足广大汉语教学者的需求，8月21日到8月25日，由孔子学院总部、国家汉办主办，罗德岛大学孔子学院承办了第二届教师培训班，为他们进行了为期5天的集中培训，取得了良好的反响。

Confucius Institute of URI Hosts Workshop for CSL Teachers

Kingston, R.I., August 28, 2013, — From August 21 to 25, the Confucius Institute of the University of Rhode Island held a teacher training workshop, where 55 teachers of Chinese as a Second Language(CSL) came from all over New England and some other states, living together, eating together, attending lectures, and sharing their stories and experiences with each other. The workshop is sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, and hosted by the Confucius Institute at University of Rhode Island.

12位波士顿市长候选人出席“我的主街”论坛
【侨报周末特约记者李强波士顿图文报道】8月19日晚，所有12位候选人出席了“我的主街”波士顿市长候选人论坛。本次论坛在波士顿多切斯特区有96年历史的史传德（Strand）剧院举行，12位候选人在台上坐成一排，剧院里满座的数百名观众，场面颇为壮观。波士顿20年来的第一位新市长将从这12位候选人中脱颖而出。
