  • Results and Pictures from IFSM 2012 Boston Supermodel Contest Hosted by Eclipse Mass Media

    The IFSM 2012 Boston Contest hosted by Eclipse Mass Media (EMM) was successfully held at Royale Nightclub in the evening of Sunday, October 14, 2012.


    		The two major categories of the contest are Runway Model (for contestants 5-foot and 8-inch or taller) and Photo Model for other contestants. After four-rounds of intense competition, the winner of Runway Model: Jaeyoung Lee and winner of Photo Model: Jessica Graf stood on the runway with followers on their hands and big smiles on their faces. They thanked Eclipse Mass Media for providing such a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talents. Everyone in the audience applauded and cheered loudly.

  • Spared by Hurricane Sandy, Massachusetts Sends Fuel to New York and New Jersey

    Boston – November 5, 2012 – Governor Deval Patrick today announced that Massachusetts is helping to enable gasoline shipments to New York and New Jersey as those states and their residents recover from Hurricane Sandy. The announcement comes at the request of New York officials, and will facilitate the distribution of gas supply throughout the region.

    		 How did you go through Sandy in the past two days? Being so lucky that no power outage happened to me on Monday, I just curled up in my coach and watched 3 movies. Obviously I was not prepared at all-no water was stored and I had only 3 cans of bean at home. Although I was lucky enough to be unaffected by the hurricane this time, the absence of coworkers the next day and the sad stories on the news made me think-what should we prepare before the crisis to carry us and our family through?

    快十三年没有去北京了，最后一次去北京应该是1999年我出国前几个月。年初舅舅病危直至去世，我都没有去。列车驶入北京站的时候，就感觉我好像在触摸舅舅干枯的手，真想聆听他时常在电话里那慢条斯理的混杂着京腔和沪味的教诲和关爱。

    In an article titled Malden Man, Others Arrested Stealing Apples published on October 18, 2012 on Malden Patch, names, addresses and pictures of five Asian suspects arrested earlier that week in New Hampshire were made public on patch.com. This report as you may expect immediately received multiple anti-minority and anti-immigrant comments, and some vicious comments had to be removed.

  • 雙鋼琴家隆氏姐妹首次波士頓公演 獻藝喬丹音樂廳

    中華表演藝術基金會將邀請享譽國際的華裔雙鋼琴家隆信真(Beatrice Long) 與隆愛真 (Christina Long) 於十一月三日星期六晚上八點在紐英崙音樂學院喬登廳(Jordan Hall) 舉行雙鋼琴波士頓首演。一九九七年，隆氏姊妹榮獲美國音樂協會舉辦的全美艾利斯雙鋼琴比賽(1997 Ellis Duo Piano Competition)首獎後，隨即又獲得美國現代作品的最佳演奏獎，樂評以「成功結合音樂意義、精準技巧與高尚透明度的演奏」高度讚揚這兩位來自台灣的姊妹花。獲獎後，各方邀約不斷，每年於全美各地、歐洲、亞洲舉辦音樂會，持續創造許多精采演出紀錄。及知名的國家公共廣播電台與達拉斯WRR古典音樂台的轉播與報導。《華盛頓郵報》更讚賞「隆氏姐妹開創了雙鋼琴演奏的新境界。」最近，隆氏姐妹與台北市立交響樂團在台灣國家音樂廳及埃斯基謝希爾交響樂團在土耳其演出鋼琴協奏曲。他們還到杭州及廣州星海劇院巡迴演出。

    (中新社纽约10月30日电) 飓风“桑迪”29日晚在美国登陆后，继续袭击纽约长达数小时之久。直到30日中午，风雨才渐渐停歇。陆续传来的灾情报告显示，“桑迪”巨大的破坏力还是超出人们的预想，死亡人数节节攀升，就在30日的滚动报道中，死亡人数从18、21、33、35，到美国东部时间14点30分已上升到38人。而这一数据，还有可能往上攀升。至于带来的经济损失，更有数百亿之巨。

    当地时间10月30日，飓风“桑迪”裹挟着狂风骤雨重创了美国东海岸，飓风所经过之处一片狼藉。图为纽约皇后区遭到“桑迪”的袭击后，一片瓦砾。
