  • A Californian’s Journey Into Tibet

    “You need the 入藏函（Letter to Enter Tibet）”, the tour bureau representative told me, after examining my USA passport. I couldn’t believe it. I was on my way to Tibet and was stopping by in Zhengzhou, a city in central China. “Could you double-check?”, I asked earnestly, hoping it was a mis-information on her part. “Before the train enters Tibet, there will be a checkpoint. Everybody who does not have a National ID card（身份证）or Letter to Enter Tibet will be turned back and sent onto the next train that comes back.”

  • In Youth Council Reunion, Governor Patrick Hears from Leaders for the Next Generation

    BOSTON – July 10, 2012 – Governor Deval Patrick hosted members and alumni of the Governor’s Youth Council Monday in the State House at the first statewide Youth Council reunion. The youth shared what they have accomplished as a Youth Council member as well as their goals going forward.

  • Yao-sanity? Jeremy Lin To Sign with Houston Rockets

    HOUSTON, July 5 — The Houston Rockets agreed to terms with New York Knicks restricted free agent guard Jeremy Lin on Thursday, according to a local newspaper. Unless, the New York Knicks matches Houston’s offer by July 11, Lin will become the next Asian basketball star after Yao Ming in Houston.

  • Raquel Olssen – From BU Grad To TV Star at CCTV News International

    Raquel’s most emotional moments seem to be when she’s sitting on an airplane. Seated comfortably (or not so comfortably, depending on the airline) in her own allotted space, this is a time when her mind is her own. It’s a time when her thoughts stir and occur, digest and contest, review and renew. It’s also a time of change, an element in life of which Raquel has quite the penchant for. Whether it was the seven year-old, toothy-grinned kid en route to Vancouver from Bangkok, about to start a new life in the west, or the starry-eyed 18 year-old teenager on her first flight to Boston to begin college, or, most recently, the ambitious but somewhat frightened “young lady” jetting across the world to Beijing – one thing remained constant. These moments of symbolic and physical transition were when she felt most alive.

    6月30日晚在水立方水滴剧场， I Do基金携手来自美国麻省理工大学的音乐教育大师龚琛晨（Chen Chen）女士，为拥有艺术梦想的打工子弟们奉上了一场名为“Piano For All——Chen Chen和她的孩子们” 的公益钢琴音乐会。

  • 移民局与费城华人社区互动 – 有条不紊进行

    移民局与美亚老人会、福建社团理事会的社区互动会议照既定计划于6月10日下午一时如期召开，100多人与会，会议井序有条，提问踊跃，移民官回答切实明了，让与会者收益非浅。是主办机构自2007年以来三次移民局座谈会最成功的一次。
