    【波士顿双语网2022年2月18日讯】由于麻州和波士顿市区新冠疫情在本月以来逐步趋缓,波士顿市长吴弭(Michelle Wu)今天宣布,取消要求人们在餐饮娱乐等室内场合出示疫苗证的规定,即日起生效。这个波士顿市府名为“共同抗疫(B Together)的规定自从今年1月15日生效以来,受到工会团体和一些商家的反对。

  • UCA Statement on DOJ’s Decision To Drop All Charges Against Prof Gang Chen

    The following is a statement by UCA released on Jan. 22, 2022.

    United Chinese Americans (UCA) commends the U.S. Department of Justice’s decision to drop all criminal charges against Dr. Gang Chen, a Chinese American professor at MIT, and yet another victim of the China Initiative. Although Dr. Chen was accused of his relationship with China, in essence he was questioned for his loyalty to America. We believe the DOJ’s decision to drop the case, though long overdue, is right and applaudable. We are happy for Professor Chen’s family and many who care about him and this case.

  • 100 Orgs Urge Inter-American Human Rights Commission to Investigate Abuses and Racism at the US Border

    Jan. 21, 2022, Washington, D.C. — A diverse coalition of one hundred (100) organizations from across the United States and Latin America have filed a petition in the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights (“the Commission”), detailing abuses by the U.S. government against Haitian and Central American refugees at the border and asking for Commission intervention. Lawyers for Civil Rights and its allies filed the petition yesterday on behalf of Alianza Americas, Haitian-Americans United, and dozens of other national and international organizations, religious and secular community-based groups, educational and cultural institutions, immigrants’ rights advocates, women’s rights champions, indigenous groups, LGBTQ+ leaders, and health equity advocates. The petition requests an investigatory hearing and urges the Commission to visit both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border to observe and document human rights abuses at the hands of U.S. officials.

    As one of the earliest Xiangsheng groups in the eastern United States, Fuyun Xiangsheng club was founded in June 2011. It was initiated by eight Ph.D. students at MIT. After ten years of development and growth, it gradually grew into a crosstalk group with more than 100 active members and more than 30 resident actors.

  • 新上任麻州联邦检察官撤销对MIT陈刚教授所有指控

    【波士顿双语网2022年1月20日讯】联邦司法部在波士顿联邦法院提交的一份简短的单页文件中披露,决定撤销对麻省理工学院(MIT)著名教授陈刚的所有指控。刚刚上任的麻州新任联邦检察官罗林斯(Rachael Rollins)表示,在收到新信息后,检方“无法再承担我们在审判中的举证责任”。罗林斯是麻州历史上首位黑人女性出任该州的联邦检察官,陈刚教授于去年1月份被指控隐瞒他为中国政府所做的工作。

    【波士顿双语网2022年1月15日讯】由于预计这段时间将出现极端寒冷的天气,市长 吴弭(Michelle Wu)已宣布波士顿市于 1 月 15 日星期六进入寒冷紧急状态。吴市长还宣布了1月16日星期日的寒冷预警,并宣布了寒冷天气安全提示,因为预计整个周末都会出现低温。波士顿预计在1月14日星期五至1月16日星期日将经历华氏零度以下的风寒。波士顿青年和家庭中心(BCYF)星期六的地点将仅在1月15日被开放为取暖中心。尽量限制户外活动,如果您必须出门应多穿几层衣服。有关更多信息和安全提示,请访问boston.gov/cold

  • Mayor Wu Declares a Cold Emergency in Boston for January 15

    Jan. 14, 2022, — Mayor Michelle Wu has declared a cold emergency in the City of Boston for Saturday, January 15, due to the extreme cold weather that is forecasted for this time period. Mayor Wu also declared a cold advisory for Sunday, January 16 and announced cold weather safety tips as cold temperatures are expected throughout the weekend. Boston is forecasted to experience wind chills below zero on Friday, January 14 through Sunday, January 16. BCYF Saturday locations will be activated as warming centers on January 15 only.
