    (Li Na, two-time Grand Slam champion, announced her retirement in a letter to her fams on Sina Weibo and Facebook on Sept. 19, 2014. Born in Wuhan China, Li Na graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and went on to become Asia’s first Grand Slam champion in 2011. She is one of the few Chinese athletes with international following. Her fans will miss her fighting spirit on the court and also her sense of humor during interviews.)

    For close to fifteen years, we’ve been a part of each other’s lives. As a tennis player representing China on the global stage, I’ve trekked around the world playing hundreds of matches on the WTA tour, for China’s Fed Cup team, at the National Games and at several Olympic Games. You’ve always been there for me, supporting me, cheering me on, and encouraging me to reach my potential.

  • Spirit of Autumn Concert Rocks John Hancock Hall

    Boston, Spet. 15, 2014, — The Spirit of Autumn show, hosted by the Asian Culture & Media Group, delighted around 1,000 people in the audience at John Hancock Hall in the evening of Sept. 12. Four folk and classic singers joined by two rock stars from China delivered dozens of beautiful songs with different styles.

  • Mikki O’Brien Takes ATV Miss Asia Pageant East Coast Crown

    New York City, Sept. 15, 2014, — ATV Miss Asia Pageant US East Coast recently completed the final round of competition. Seventeen-year-old high school student Mikki O’Brien from New York won the first place while Jing Xu from Boston finished as the runner up.

  • “Media Literacy and Youth Leadership” Seminar Successly Held at Harvard University

    Cambridge, Mass., September 2, 2014, Global Youth Leadership North American Hub(GYLNAH) held “Media Literacy and Youth Leadership” seminar at Harvard Yenching Library on August 27. The speaker, Paul Mihailidis, who is the President of Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change, an Assistant Professor from Emerson College, gave a keynote speech of Media Literacy As Civic Currency. Gang Wu, a visiting scholar of Harvard University and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Chinese National Radio Online made comments as guest speaker. The Seminar was host by Zhang Tong, the Minister of Publicity of Global Youth Leadership North America Hub, and also an Emerson College visiting scholar. About 40 students and visiting scholars from Harvard University, MIT, University of British Columbia, Canada, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Nankai University participated in the seminar.

  • Mayor Fung Wins R.I. GOP Governor Nomination

    Fung delivers victory speech on the evening of Sept. 9, 2014 (from @FungForGovernor).

    Cranston, R.I., Sept. 10, 2014, — Cranston Mayor and R.I. Governor candidate Alan Fung pulled off a ten-point victory in yesterday’s primaries. Fung won 55% votes and defeated opponent Ken Block. Mayor Fung and Democratic nominee R.I. General Treasurer Gina Raimondo will face off in the November’s general election for Governor.

    Fung delivered an exiting victory speech last night, and outlined his vision for lowering taxes and creating more job opportunities for R.I. residents if elected Governor.

  • BU President Brown Welcomes New Chinese Students

To those Chinese students who came all the way across Pacific Ocean to the States, a new start may be confusing and difficult. This year, Boston University president Robert A.   • MACRO Wins 2014 Mid-America Cup Soccer Tournament

    Chicago, August 31, 2014, — MACRO defeated UW-Madison 3:0 this afternoon at Oak Brooks Central Park in the final match of Mid-America Cup soccer tournament. It’s the fourth straight championship for MACRO in the Mid-America Cup, according to organizer Mr. C.M. Lei of Mid America Chinese Recreation Organization (MACRO).
