Beijing, China, Nov. 1, 2019, — the Chinese Civilization and China’s Path academic forum hosted by the Academy of Chinese Culture and the Kuhn Foundation was held today. More than 20 well-known Chinese and foreign scholars, such as Professor Michael Szonyi, director of the Fairbank Center for East Asian Studies at Harvard University, Li Junru, forumer vice president of Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, Wolfgang Kubin, Chair Professor of the Department of Libteratur at Shantou University, Elizabeth Economy, Director of Asia Studies at the Council on Foreign Studies, and Qian Chengdan, Chair Professor of Boya Plan at Peking University, along with 300 students at the Academy of Chinese Culture attended this forum.

Tufts Medical Center Asian Health Initiative Calls for Anti-Tobacco Proposals
Boston, Oct. 11, 2019, — Tufts Medical Center (Tufts MC) launched the Asian Health Initiative in 1995 to support community partners working to address some of the most pressing health concerns in Chinatown and the Boston Asian community. Over the years, those efforts have focused on chronic diseases, family violence, emotional wellness, and tobacco use, among other topics. Based on findings in Tufts MC’s 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment, the Asian Health Initiative will focus its efforts in the coming years on preventing and reducing tobacco and nicotine use in Chinatown.

Proposed Regulations to address Vaping and Tobacco Use Among Youth in Boston
Boston, September 18, 2019 – Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) is proposing regulations aimed at addressing vaping and tobacco use among youth in Boston. Under the proposal, mint and menthol nicotine and tobacco products will only be sold only in verified adult-only tobacco retailers. Staff will now move forward with an engagement process that will include a public comment period and public hearing before a Board of Health vote to approve the amendments.

On Tuesday this week, the Cambridge Public Library of Massachusetts invited Chinese international filmmaker and director Weiying Olivia Huang to hold a documentary film screening and discussion of “Grolier Poetry Book Shop: The Last Sacred Place of Poetry”. The symposium also invited a well-known poet of Massachusetts, Doug Holder, who is the founder of Ibbetson Street Press, to participate in a discussion with Director Huang after the screening.
