  • CHSNE and Chinatown Main Street Host Lunar New Year Celebrations

    Boston, Feb. 17, 2014, — Chinese Historical Society of New England (CHSNE) hosted an open house in the afternoon of Feb. 9 at the China Trade Building in Chinatown. At the same time, Chinatown Main Street(CMS) also hosted Lunar New Year of the Horse cultural activities.

  • Chinatown Crime Watch Then and Now

    Boston, Feb, 17, 2014, — At Wong Family Association’s Chinese New Year banquet at Empire Garden in Boston Chinatown on Feb. 16, 2014, Boston Mayor Martin Walsh stoped by the table of distinguished guests, and greeted 89-year-old WWII veteran Arthur Wong. About 900 members and guests attended this annual banquet, and enjoyed fine Chinese food, performances and prizes.

    SECRETARY KERRY: Thank you, Robert. Thank you very, very much. I don’t know. I think some of you were cheering twice for the same university. I don’t know. (Laughter.) It seemed to come from the same place anyway.

    What a pleasure to be here at America, where we are looking at all of the air conditioning pipes running right through here. I love it. The spirit and feel of this place is very special and it’s wonderful to see our friends up here from Kalimantan and also everybody from Sumatra. Thank you very much for being with us.   • Gov. Patrick Joins MassChallenge to Launch 2014 Global Startup Programs

    Boston, February 12, 2014 -– Governor Deval Patrick today joined Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and MassChallenge founder Akhil Nigam to announce the 2014 startup accelerator competition. MassChallenge also announced the anticipated launch of MassChallenge UK in London in December 2014. MassChallenge CEO John Harthorne joined the event via video conference from Tel Aviv to simultaneously kick off the MassChallenge Israel 2014 program.

    “The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is well positioned to continue its leadership among the global innovation economy because of our strategic investments in innovation, education and infrastructure,” said Governor Patrick. “MassChallenge’s new program in the UK and its programs in Boston and Israel do important work to connect these hubs of entrepreneurship.”

  • Justin Chung Wins Two Gold Medals at City League Swimming Championships

    Boston, Feb, 11, 2014, — 2014 City of Boston League Swimming Championships was held on February 5 at Madison Park Swimming Pool in Roxbury. The top summers from O’Bryant, East Boston and Latin Academy competed against each other for a fun-filled afternoon.

  • Dr. Andrew Lo, Keynote Speaker at NECP’s Lunar New Year Gala

    Dr. Andrew W. Lo, a prominent economist, is the Charles E. and Susan T. Harris Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and director of the MIT Laboratory for Financial Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1984. Before joining MIT’s finance faculty in 1988, he taught at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School as the W.P. Carey Assistant Professor of Finance from 1984 to 1987, and as the W.P. Carey Associate Professor of Finance from 1987 to 1988.

  • White House Raises Minimum Wage and Launches Cybersecurity Framework

    Washington. D.C., Feb. 11, 2014, — In his State of the Union address, President Obama called on Congress to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour, and announced he would issue an Executive Order to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 for the individuals working on new federal service contracts.

  • After Annual Celebration, NAAAP Boston to Present Wine Tasting on March 4

    Boston, Feb. 11, 2013, — After successfully holding its annual celebration on Jan. 18, National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Boston brings you another fun activity on March 4.

    With 120 people in attendance at Center for Arts at the Armory in Somerville on a snowy evening in January, NAAAP Boston‘s Annual Celebration was a success. The annual celebration included a full-blown art gallery by celebrity watercolorist Misha Lenn, raffle games, and salsa dancing. Corporate sponsors Blue Cross Blue Shield, Liberty Mutual and State Street were recognized for their incredible collaboration and dedication to NAAAP.
