    Cambridge, Mass. – In the afternoon of October 6, the MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (MIT-CHIEF)’s Launch Ceremony of 2012 annual conference was held at the Marriott Hotel in Kendal Square near MIT campus. The organizing team announced this year’s forum topics and the latest progress. The registration website was officially launched, with the opening day, November 16, of this year’s forum exactly 40 days away.

  • Tufts Medical Center to Provide Free Cervical and Breast Cancer Screenings to Uninsured Women on October 13

    BOSTON – For the third straight year, Tufts Medical Center will host See, Test & Treat®, a free cervical and breast cancer screening program, sponsored by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and funded through grants from the CAP Foundation. The program features same day medical tests, diagnoses and follow-up care for uninsured and underserved women ages 21 and older, all in a single visit. The program will take place on Saturday, October 13, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the OB/GYN clinic on the second floor of Tufts Medical Center’s South Building (860 Washington Street in Boston).

  • 2012 IBM NECINA YES 7.0 Had Opening Class, Registratoin to End on Oct. 6

    In the morning of September 22, the IBM NECINA YES (Youth Entrepreneurship Service) Program 7.0 had its kickoff class at IBM Innovation Center in Waltham, Mass. About two dozen students from local high schools listened to Joseph Perry, IBM Regional Innovation Center Manager for the North American Eastern Region, on the basics of developing a business plan.

  • 2012 BBOA’s Annual Performance Features Operas from East and West

    In the evening of October 7, Boston Beijing Opera Association (BBOA) will present its annual performance at Cambridge Family YMCA Theater (820 Mass. Ave, Cambridge MA 02139). In this year’s performance, audience will not only enjoy classical Beijing Opera programs but also erhu, guzheng and saxophone performances by well-known musicians Hongwei Gao, Hui Weng and Pei Yin. Singer Jin Wei will also perform Italian Opera “O mio babbino caro” (“Oh My Beloved Father”).

  • China´s National Day Rail Passengers Expected to Hit 75 Million

    China’s railways are busy ahead of the autumn holiday season, with millions heading home to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and China’s National Day holiday with their families. The 11-day travel rush, began Thursday and runs until October the 7th. According to railway authorities, the total number of rail passengers is expected to hit over 75 million.

    October the 1st alone will see an estimated 9 million people travelling by train, up 320,000 from last year’s National Day.

  • Japan, Taiwan Ships Exchange Water Cannon Fire As China’s First Aircraft Carrier Entering Service

    BEIJING, Sept. 26 – Japanese and Taiwanese ships shot water cannon at each other yesterday in the latest confrontation over tiny islands in the East China Sea as Japan met with another rival, China, in an effort to tamp down tensions.

    On Saturday, October 6, the Inaugural Conference of NECLTA International Conference will bring teachers and researchers of Chinese language from across New England to Tufts University. The focus of the conference is learning and teaching Chinese language and culture in a multicultural environment.
