  • The Surging Waves Symposium Features Distinguished Panelists

    Cambridge, May 6, 2016, — The Surging Waves Symposium: 200 Years of Chinese American Identity was held at Tsai Auditorium in Harvard University on April 30. This event was hosted by Chinese American Citizens Alliance(CACA) Boston lodge, and sponsored by East Boston Savings Bank. About 150 attendees joined the discussions of history of Chinese immigration at the symposium.

  • World Taichi and Qigong Day Held at Harvard

    Boston, May 4, 2016, — The first-ever World Taichi and Qigong Day event was successfully held in Harvard Yard on April 30. Over 60 people joined the event led by Anlin Wang, World Champion in Taichi.

  • Mayor Walsh, BPHC Release Health Impact Assessment Findings

    Boston, May 4, 2016 — Mayor Martin J. Walsh today joined health officials to announce the findings of the Boston Public Health Commission’s (BPHC) health impact assessment of Boston’s Living Wage Ordinance, highlighting opportunities to strengthen the Living Wage Ordinance by increasing the living wage and expanding the pool of workers protected by the ordinance.

  • Frank and Kathleen Chin Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at KKCS’ Centennial Celebration

    Boston, May 2, 2016, — Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chin were honored at the 100th Anniversary celebration of Kwong Kow Chinese School(KKCS) at Marriott Hotel at Copley Place in Boston Back Bay on April 29. About 500 guests, including Gov. Baker and President of Boston City Council Michelle Wu, celebrated this special occasion.

    Boston, May 1, 2016, — More than 40,000 people came together on the Boston Common to make a powerful statement about hunger in Massachusetts today. In addition to the scenic 10-mile Walk course along the Charles River, this year the Walk for Hunger kicked off with a 5k timed race starting on the Boston Common.

  • From Vietnam to Boston, Amanda Le Empowers Immigrant Women

    Boston, April 29, 2016, — Van Amanda Le, Chairwoman of National Asian Women‘s Association, was born to a Chinese family in Vietnam. She immigrated United States in 1985 and has distinguished herself by serving Boston’s Asian-American community for the past 23 years. She has had significant impact on the lives of many members of vibrant community through her involvement in the implementation and expansion of programs designed to increase Asian-American Bostonians awareness and utilization of available health care programs, and identifying and removing barriers to those programs. Miss. Le will be one of the panelists for the Surging Waves Symposium to be held at the Tsai Auditorium of Harvard Fairbanks Center on 1730 Cambridge St. this Saturday.

  • Beatrice Lee, Panelist of Surging Waves Symposium

    Beatrice Chao Lee (Chao Chung-Ying) was born in Nanjing, China.  As a child, she lived with her military family in many cities in Mainland China until 1949, when her family moved to Taiwan where Beatrice finished high school.  At the age of 19, Beatrice flew to America to attend the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, New York on a four year scholarship.  On June 1, 1954 Beatrice received her B.A. in Social Studies with a minor in Fine Arts and two weeks later she married Raymond Lee, a chemical engineer from Shanghai whom she had dated for 3 years.
