Boston, April 14, 2016 — Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced the strategic rebranding of the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement, formerly known as the Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians, to help encompass the evolving needs of Boston’s immigrant community. As part of a concerted effort to empower immigrant residents and recognize their contributions to our city, Mayor Walsh also launched Immigrant Information Corners at the Boston Public Library’s Central Library in Copley Square and 24 neighborhood branches to provide information about resources and services available to help advance the well-being of the city’s immigrant residents.

Ethiopian Runners Dominate at the 120th Boston Marathon
Boston, April 18, 2016, — It’s a picture perfect day at the 120th running of Boston Marathon. There was a light headwind and temperature in the upper 60s for the elite runners. Lemi Berhanu Hayle won the men’s group in 2:12:45. Fellow Ethiopian Atsede Baysa came from behind and pull ahead in the end to win the women’s group in 2:29:19.

Dream of the Red Chamber Concert — An Instant Classic in Pictures

Lexington, Mass., April 12, 2016, — Just days before the Patriots’ Day, Dream of the Red Chamber concert took stage at Battin Hall just steps away from the Battle Green. You won’t hear any gunshots but wonderful Chinese traditional music and beautiful songs from the classic 1987 Chinese TV series The Dream of the Red Chamber. Over 1,500 music fans attended two concerts in the afternoon and evening on Sunday, April 10.

Call to Artists to create Artwork Inspired by the Music Pictures at an Exhibition
Boston, April 12, 2016, — Artists in the Greater Boston area are invited to attend a workshop that will inspire them to create and submit artwork for Pictures at an Exhibition Reframed, a juried show of two dimensional art inspired by Mussorgky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Accepted submissions will be displayed at a public performance of this suite of ten movements for piano by Yelena Beriyeva in Jenkins Auditorium in Malden, Massachusetts on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
