  • Xiaojie Li Cleared of Trespassing Charge in Nashua Apple Store Taser Arrest Incident

    On Dec. 11, 2012, Xiaojie Li of Newton, Mass. was arrested by policemen with the help of Taser when she tried to purchase iPhone in the Apple store at Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH. Five months later, Ms. Li appeared in the circuit court of Nashua, facing trespassing and resisting arrest charges in the afternoon of May 10. The judge heard the testimonies from various witnesses and interrogation of witnesses by the attorneys of both sides. At end of the half-day trial, the judge dismissed the trespassing charge and upheld the resisting arrest charge, but declined to issue any penalty against Ms. Li. The record of resisting arrest will be removed if Ms. Li commits no new violation in the next three years, according to the ruling.

  • Funerals Begin for Boston Bombing Victims

    Boston, April 22, 2013, — A day of remembrance in Massachusetts reached around the world.

    Hundreds of mourners crowded outside a suburban Boston church on Monday for the first of a series of funerals for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. It was followed by an evening university service for another young life cut short, this time a student from China.

    Boston, April 22, 2013, — Family members of Lingzi Lu, who died from the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15, arrived at Logan airport at around 12:05 a.m. on April 20. Chinese ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai was at the airport to greet the family members.

  • FBI: Metal Pressure Cooker Bombs Used Near Boston Marathon Finish Line

  • BU Student Lingzi Lu Still Missing after Watching 2013 Boston Marathon, Team BCNC Safe Home

    Boston, April 16, 2013, — A warm and breezy spring afternoon turned into nightmare for two international students from China. Both female students are from Boston University, and wanted to cheer on the runners as they crossing the finish line. One of the students was seriously injuried by one of the bombs yesterday afternoon near Boston Marathon finish line, and is currently being treated at a local hospital. Lingzi Lu (pictured below) is still missing as of 10:36 AM today.

    On Tuesday, 04/02/2013, Boston Police District A-1 Police Officers filed a police report for the victim who is a middle aged Asian woman who speaks only Mandarin. The victim stated that she was approached by three Asian female suspects who stated that they needed money to help the victim’s sick daughter. The victim believed the suspects. She went to the bank and withdrew an undisclosed amount of money and gave the money to the suspects. The victim then became disoriented as the suspects left the area. All three Asian female suspects were described as being from early to late thirties in age, black hair, brown eyes, five feet to five feet 2 inches tall with slim builds. There was no clothing description given.

  • Mayor Menino and Senator Warren Discuss Gun Violence Prevention

    Boston, Jan. 18, 2013, — Mayor Thomas M. Menino and US Senator Elizabeth Warren this afternoon met to discuss a gun violence prevention agenda backed by the coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), co-founded by Mayor Menino. Upon the Senate’s return next week, Senator Warren will support a comprehensive approach to preventing gun violence, including three Senate bills focused on gun control reform, which reflect the three main priorities of the coalition’s recommendations sent to President Obama in December: requiring every gun buyer to pass a criminal background check, getting military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines off city streets, and making gun trafficking a federal crime. Senator Warren will also continue to review additional proposals to prevent gun violence.
