  • Lost Years Makes 2013 IFFM Selection, Toronto Premiere Next

    Lost Years is an award winning documentary tracing four generations of racism as revealed through the journey and family story of Kenda Gee, a Chinese Canadian. Co-Produced/Directed by Kenda Gee and Tom Radford, the documentary begins in China in 1910 and concludes with the movement to embrace redress as a concept of social justice in Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Australia, exactly a century later. This film has been shown on China’s CCTV with millions of viewers. In next two weeks, people in two of the largest cities in North America will have the opportune to watch it in theaters.

  • NEU Student Derek Hsu Wins Kollaboration Boston 3

    Boston, Oct. 12, 2013, — Kollaboration Boston 3 was held at Berklee Performance Center in the evening of Oct. 11. After 3-hour competition and performances in front of an audience of 500, Derek Hus took home the grand prize with his amazing routine of Chinese Yo-yo. The Movement Box (Vocal Percussion/Dance) took the runner-up prize.

  • Shaolin Kung Fu Wowed the Audience at U.N. Headquarters

    New York City, Oct. 11, 2013, –Shi Yongxin, the 30th-generation abbot of the legendary Shaolin Temple, led a cultural delegation to perform kung fu at the United Nations headquarters on Oct 9.

    Performing traditional Chinese martial arts moves, the 18-member group wowed the audience, many of whom said they had never seen such feats before.

  • After Third Asian American Festival, AAAB Plans More Cultural Events

    Boston, Oct. 6, 2013, — During a recent board meeting at 130 Lincoln Street in Boston Chinatown, members of Asian American Association of Boston (AAAB) reflected on the successful completion of third Asian American Festival on Sept. 7 at Quincy High School, and reviewed plans for future events. Mr. Klysler Yen also brought moon cakes and coffee to thank the hard work by meeting attendees in organizing the Asian American Festival.

  • CNASA to Host 10th Annual Badminton Tournament at MIT

    September 9, 2013, Boston, — Chinese North America Sports Association (CNASA) will host its popular annual badminton tournament on October 12 at Zesiger Athletic Center of MIT. The CNASA Cup badminton tournament attracts a dozen or so teams from East Coast each year. Wilson Li, a member of the Championship team in 2011, will be this year’s Chief Referee.

    This year’s tournament is co-hosted by MIT CAST. Registration Fee for each team is $120 (including court fee and shuttlecocks). Please send a check payable to CNASA to: “CNASA, 8 Marion Rd, Belmont MA 02478.” For more information about CNASA Cup badminton tournament, please visit www.cnasa.org.

  • Flushing International Business Expo Showcases Small Businesses

    Flushing, N.Y., August 30, 2013, –The Phoenix ballroom became bustling after the opening remarks. U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and LinaMei.com held an international business expo on the second floor of LaGuardia Sheraton East Hotel this Friday. The expo attracted exhibitors from about 30 businesses, as well as more than a dozen of non-profit organizations and government agencies.
