    Nov. 8, 2013, — Started two years ago by doctors and researchers at American Chinese Medical Association (ACMA), Bridge Medical Summit (BMS) has become a new Fall tradition in Boston’s medical district. This year’s BMS has been successfully held at Boston Children’s Hospital on Oct. 26. With focuses on Medical Education, Cancer Prevention & Screening, Genetics and Proteomics as well as Healthcare Issues in the US and China, BMS III has interpreted complicated medical language into presentations and speeches that could be understood by the public.

  • CRISPR Symposium at Harvard Medical School Draws Crowds

    Boston, Sept. 30, 2013, — Doing research in life sciences is a tough business. It requires years of training, long work hours and patience. Breakthrough discoveries are few and far in between, but they could improve lives of millions people. Recently, a symposium at Harvard Medical School (HMS) drew about 300 students and researchers to packed Cannon Room of Building C to listen to four distinguished fellow researchers sharing their experiences.

  • Venerable Guangquan from Lingyin Temple Takes Podium at Harvard University

    Cambridge, Mass., Sept. 4, 2013, –Lingyin Abbot Venerable Guangquan accompanied by more than 30 monks, guests of China Buddhism Association, arrived in the United States for cultural exchange with local Buddhist communities. There he gave a talk entitled “Buddhist Art and World Peace” at Harvard University Science Center, making him the first Lingyin venerable that promotes Buddhist culture at a podium of an American university. Lingyin is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in China and has a history of more than 1600 years.

  • Reflections on an Active Retirement

    Four years ago, much to the surprise of my dean, I told him that I planned to retire in 2001 after 40 years on the faculty of Harvard University (Note added 2007. Currently in the US there is no mandatory retirement age for university professor. This has in fact becoming somewhat of a problem since many tenured faculty chooses to stay on rather than retire. Thus, they block openings and advancement for younger faculties). Since then I have prepared my self for this transition, reflected on my life, and finally gone through the experience. Collected below are some insights that I learned from others, discovered for myself, and emotions that I experienced before, during, and after the transition. They are offered as amusement, free advice (probably worth the same), and my own catharsis.

His research examines the structures of reasoning with which individuals across cultures make sense of international and interethnic issues. He is spending 2012-13 conducting research in China as a Fulbright scholar and Harvard Traveling Fellow.

  • Mindful Scientific Wins Business Pitch Competition at 2013 Harvard Extension Business Conference

    Cambridge, Mass., April 29, 2013, — In 17 days, Canadian entrepreneur Ying Tam won two awards at 2013 Harvard Extension Business Conference (HEBC) and at the IBM Innovation Center. In the afternoon of April 27, Mindful Scientific emerged as winner among eight finalists after two rounds of intense competition at the HEBC in Northwest Science building at Harvard University. The Healio team finished as the first runner-up.
