  • Quincy Residents, Americorps Help Mark MLK Day of Service

    Quincy, Mass., — The Houghs Neck Community Council maximized a mini-grant of just over $1,400.00 from the Massachusetts Service Alliance to host a “Martin Luther King Service Day” on Monday, January 18th. State Representative Tackey Chan stopped by to greet the 25 youth, 50 AmeriCorps members, and other adult volunteers. For this second annual event, a combined total of 310 hours were served. Activities produced a collection of 17 winter coats, 143 letters to troops, 264 valentines for seniors, 35 herb gardens, and 87 Goodie Bags for Homeless Children.

  • Displaced Tenants Hold Tent City in Quincy Center

    Quincy, Mass., May 6, 2015, — Displaced tenants and their supporters set up tents in Quincy Center Tuesday afternoon to protest the actions of First Suffolk LLC, a development company based in the law offices of Matera Vopat Matera & Johnson in Quincy Center.

  • Granite Employees Support Quincy Asian Community

    Quincy, Mass., Sept. 29, 2014, – The Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center(BCNC) is pleased to announce that Granite Telecommunications, LLC, a provider of communications solutions to businesses, contributed $3,583 to BCNC Quincy through Jeans Day, a Granite initiative where employees can wear casual dress in exchange for contributing to a designated non-profit organization. BCNC Quincy, the recipient of the September 5 Jeans Day, provides youth programs, family services, and adult education programs to residents from Quincy and the surrounding South Shore communities.

  • Jannie Mark Receives Visionary Award at QARI Community Banquet

    Quincy, Mass., June 9, 2014, — The seventh Quincy Asian Resources Inc. community banquet were held on May 30 at China Pearl in Quincy. Close to 600 guests, including candidate for governor State Treasurer Steve Grossman, candidate for Lt. Governor Cambridge City Councilor Leland Cheung, participated in the banquet.

  • Quincy Lunar New Year Festival Set for Feb. 16

    Quincy, Mass., Feb. 4, 2014, -― More than 8,000 people are expected at North Quincy High School on Sun., Feb. 16 for one of the biggest Lunar New Year Festivals in the region. Quincy Lunar New Year Festival hosted by Quincy Asian Resources will open The 26th with a traditional Lion Dance at 10:45 a.m., followed by hours of live entertainment, exhibits, activities and information for people of all backgrounds and cultures to enjoy.
