  • Funeral of WWII Hero Arthur Wong Held Today

    May 1, 2020, — Mr. Arthur Wong of Boston Chinatown passed away on April 26, 2020 at age 96. The funeral of Mr. Wong was held today at Deware Funeral Home in Quincy, Mass.

    Only eight people were allowed in the funeral home due to the COVID-19 pandemic related restrictions. Mr. Rich Wong, son of Arthur Wong, told bostonese.com that Arthur passed away Sunday night at his apartment in Chinatown with family members along side.

  • Six Chinese Citizens Killed in a Bomb Attack in Bangkok

    Bangkok, Thailand, August 19, — A bomb attack in Bangkok took place on 17 August 2015 outside the Erawan Shrine at the Ratchaprasong intersection in Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, Thailand. Twenty-five people were killed, including six Chinese citizens, and 123 were injured.

  • Mother Saves Her Son’s Life in Fatal Escalator Accident in China

    Jingzhou, Hubei, China, July 31, 2015 — In Jingzhou, Hubei a mother named Xiang Liujuan saves her 3-year-old child’s life while losing her own after a metal panel collapses underneath them after stepping off an escalator in a shopping center this central China province.   • MBTA Phone Thief in Fatal Train Incident Arrested

    Boston, Nov. 8, 2014, (www.tpdnews411.com) On November 6, 2014 at approximately 9:48pm Transit Police officers working in Area 1 received a radio call to respond to the MBTA’s Downtown Crossing (Red Line) for a report of a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple Transit Police units responded along with Boston Fire and EMS.

  • Chinese Consulate Issues Strong Condemnation of Isla Vista Killings

    (from chinadaily.com.cn) May 27, 2014, –China’s Consulate General in Los Angeles condemned the shooting rampage in Isla Vista, California, that killed six students at the nearby University of California Santa Barbara, three of them Chinese.

    “The Consulate General expresses strong condemnation of this violent behavior. We are mourning and express our deepest condolences to the victims and their family members,” said a spokesman for the Consulate, who asked that he not be named, on Tuesday. He said they have kept close contact with local police, the school and student community to help identify the victims.
