ACDC Announces Films at the Gate, September 13-15

Boston, MA, August 5, 2013 – Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC) hosts its 8th annual Films at the Gate from Friday to Sunday, September 13-15 at Chinatown Park beside the Gate on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. This is a free, outdoor film festival showcasing family-friendly kung fu films. Each evening begins at 7:00 PM with cultural performances and an 8pm start for the feature film.

ACDC anticipates over 200 guests each evening. There is open seating available on a first come, first served basis. Enjoy exciting demonstrations of martial arts, classic Chinese dance, and music by some of Boston’s best Asian performers before the film.

This year’s line-up includes: Mismatched Couples starring Donnie Yen, local Boston boy who is now Asia’s hottest kung fu action star, Heroes of the East, a classic Shaw Brothers film, featuring Shaolin Kung Fu vs. Ninja Karate, and White Dragon, a comedy about a spoiled Hong Kong teenaged girl who is suddenly bestowed with magic kung fu powers to save her prince.

Launched in 2005 by ACDC, Films at the Gate spreads cultural awareness through the display and enjoyment of performances and films. The event was founded by ACDC, volunteer producers Leslie and Sam Davol of Boston Street Lab, and film curator Jean Lukitsh.
