Mr. Libbey is a native of Lowell, Mass., and has been teaching at IMUST over past four years. Mr. Libbey had been very involved in Lowell's Asian community, and was the first president of Lowell's famous Water Festival. Ms. Shi has been a Chemistry teacher and editor of a science journal at IMUST for 28 years. Mr. Libbey and Ms. Shi got married in Baotou city in 2011. They would end their summer vacation in Lowell and travel back to China on August 28. |
| Mr. and Mrs. Libbey and students of IMUST followed Boston Marathon bombings on TV closely back in April. They were very impressed that the two suspects were killed and captured within four days of the bombings. Ms. Xiuli Shi saw Commissioner Davis for the first time on China's central TV station: CCTV. Her mother also wrote a personal Thank-you letter to Commissioner Davis, and created a beautiful Chinese calligraphy as a gift that reads the best kindness is like water, and can penetrate the hardest stone. |
