Quincy, MA, June 8, 2025, — Under clear skies and a gentle sea breeze, the Boston Guangzhou Association held its “Better Beach” community event at Wollaston Beach in Quincy today, drawing a large crowd of members and local residents. The event combined entertainment, environmental advocacy, and community engagement, showcasing both cultural pride and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. This event was sponsored by non-profit organization Save The Harbor/Save The Bay and Massachusetts DCR department.
President Bai’s Address Highlights Environmental Responsibility
The event opened with a speech by President David Bai, who welcomed guests and emphasized the Association’s mission to promote environmental protection, coastal preservation, and community vitality—supported by the Massachusetts state government. He encouraged attendees to connect, celebrate, and learn more about the Association’s growth.
President Bai outlined state regulations, reminding guests not to disturb wildlife, bring balloons or alcohol, or leave the designated area. Volunteers helped enforce safety along the shoreline to protect both adults and children.
He also extended gratitude to the Save the Harbor/Save the Bay organization and the Massachusetts DCR department, as well as to the event’s volunteers, performers, and guests for making the day a success.
Cultural Showcase: From Tai Chi to Peking Opera
A variety of performances filled the afternoon with energy and joy. Highlights included: A Tai Chi performance titled “Plum Blossom: Flower Goddess of the First Month” by Kwok Chuen Lee and team, a Latin “Straw Hat Dance” performed by Angel, Judy, Lucy, and Alice.
Amanda Le’s emotional rendition of Love Is Always There won loud applauses. A magic show by David Lee and Sam that delighted the children.
There were also Chinese classical and fan dances, a South American Bachata performance, and a traditional Peking Opera selection The Drunken Concubine. Final performance was an interactive group dance led by Peter Chen and Julie Wang, with the cast and crowd joining in a heartfelt chorus of The Light of Friendship.
Environmental Action: A Clean Beach, a Shared Commitment
Besides the artistic performances, the event featured a collective beach clean-up. Attendees of all ages participated in picking up litter, emphasizing the theme that a beautiful beach is everyone’s responsibility.
Organizers expressed their commitment to continuing such events, blending culture with sustainability. The Association welcomed more people to join in future efforts to strengthen community ties and protect the environment.
