（中央社華盛頓21日綜合外電報導）美國第一夫人蜜雪兒今天選擇領口交叉的希臘式紅色禮服出席總統就職舞會。美國有線電視新聞網（CNN）報導，這件禮服又是出自台裔設計師吳季剛之手。 蜜雪兒穿著鮮紅色禮服、足踏周仰杰（Jimmy Choo）高跟鞋與歐巴馬翩然起舞。指上閃耀著珠寶設計師金芭莉麥唐納（Kimberly McDonald）的手工鑽戒。 蜜雪兒鍾情於吳季剛的作品。她在歐巴馬2009年就職晚宴上穿的正是吳季剛設計的象牙白色單肩雪紡紗晚禮服。這套優雅華服帶有銀色手工刺繡並綴滿了水晶。當蜜雪兒與歐巴馬翩翩起舞，吳季剛也名揚全球時尚舞台。 |

【侨报周末特约记者李强波士顿图文报道】许多人的新年愿望都是在2013年身体更健康。新年伊始，不少华人就行动了起来。从2013年元旦开始，艾克顿华人足球队的铁杆球迷们不惧严寒，已经在元旦当天和接下来的两个周末经行了5场训练比赛，每次都有20多人参加。

Boston, Jan. 21, 2013, — Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and also inauguration day for President Obama’s second term. However, many Internet activists were angry about US government’s persecution of Aaron Swartz (November 8, 1986 – January 11, 2013) that ended in Aaron Swartz’s death ten days ago. They were also not impressed by Obama administration’s poor record in defending the open and free Internet over past four years.

1月20日下午， 我应陆德礼先生之邀在伯灵顿（Burlington）镇的公共图书馆波士顿华人摄影协会2013年1月聚会上，同会员们分享了过去两年来我给《侨报周末》做特约记者的一些新闻摄影作品。美国人常常说:"a picture is worth a thousand words." 在美国的华文报纸中，一位全职记者的工作量大概是一天2000字，其中如果有图片的话，一张图片可以抵400字。所以，一张照片其实是值400字。下面这个拼图是用美图秀秀制作的，包括了大约20多个新闻摄影的缩略图。 |

他叫刘锦章，属猴，1932年7月7日生于山东潍坊。2013年1月17日清晨八时，他因食道大量出血，逝世于黄山市人民医院重症病房。八小时前，他入葬。三小时前，在他追悼会后，我才偶然得到这个消息。
他是我的外公。

In order to fulfill our mission, we have annual concert series “West Meets East”. The series are comprised of concerts where Eastern and Western music and artists are brought together to offer people an opportunity to discover and appreciate the difference, commonality, and mutual influence of the two musical worlds.
Since 1999 we have held sold-out concerts at Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall and Sanders Theater in Boston and at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York. We are proud to present the 2013 West Meets East Concert at Jordan Hall featuring some of the well-respected musicians in Boston area. It will be a great night of Chinese and Western music as we celebrate the beginning of Year of Snake, which starts on Feb. 10.

（中新社1月18日电）今日下午，央视春晚官方微博发表声明，称赵本山因认为作品未能达到自己的心理预期，决定退出蛇年春晚。这已是他连续两年缺席央视春晚演出。
今年，陈佩斯、张学友、范冰冰、李宇春、范明、黄宏、姚晨等大腕都在受到哈文邀请后选择婉拒或退出。这是继龙年春晚后，明星艺人再次大范围“拒绝”春晚。从这一现象中不难看出，现在的央视春晚虽然仍旧受到全国百姓的关注，但已不再像二三十前那样是各界明星争抢的舞台，而随着时代的发展，央视春晚也在人们的争议中逐渐走下了“神坛”。

Boston, Jan. 18, 2013, — Mayor Thomas M. Menino and US Senator Elizabeth Warren this afternoon met to discuss a gun violence prevention agenda backed by the coalition of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), co-founded by Mayor Menino. Upon the Senate’s return next week, Senator Warren will support a comprehensive approach to preventing gun violence, including three Senate bills focused on gun control reform, which reflect the three main priorities of the coalition’s recommendations sent to President Obama in December: requiring every gun buyer to pass a criminal background check, getting military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines off city streets, and making gun trafficking a federal crime. Senator Warren will also continue to review additional proposals to prevent gun violence.
Mayor Menino endorsed Warren in last year’s US Senate election.

【侨报特约记者李强波士顿报道】 2013年元旦，国会通过的避免财政悬崖的法案中虽然保留了小布什总统时代的个人联邦收入税税率，但是从新年开始，个人社安税税率从2012年的4.2%恢复到2011年前的6.2%。加上各大保险公司的医保费从新年开始也大幅上涨，让许多华人工薪阶层感觉到不小的压力。

Long Beach, CA – Our Milky Way is a spiral galaxy – a pinwheel-shaped collection of stars, gas and dust. It has a central bar and two major spiral arms that wrap around its disk. Since we view the Milky Way from the inside, its exact structure is difficult to determine.
