Boston, Feb. 6, 2014, — With its new year dance show and Chinese New Year performances in the rear view mirror, Angel Dance Company is preparing a grand dance show Dunhuang My Dreamland – Tales of the Silk Road. It will be staged in early March at Casey Theater of Regis College, and bring the splendid colors from the Silk Road to the early sprint of Boston.

2014新英格兰新春嘉年华马到成功
【波士顿双语网记者李强报道】新英格兰专业人士新春嘉年华于2月1日（马年正月初二）在牛顿市Marriott宾馆圆满举行。和去年暴风雪尼莫之后的嘉年华相比，当天是今冬难得的一个好天气，最高气温达到华氏60度。500多位华人专业人士和各界友人出席了本次盛会。麻州州长帕特里克和波士顿市长沃尔什等政要为今年的嘉年华发来贺信。

休斯敦华人灭门凶手或为职业杀手
【美国中文网据《休斯敦纪事报》报道】当地时间4日，休斯敦警方发布消息说，休斯敦郊区一个安静的社区，发生了一起华裔灭门惨案，一对夫妇和他们的两个孩子惨遭杀害。警方目前召开新闻发布会，寻找线索。
当地时间3日，附近的邻居在得知警方的调查后由悲伤改为惊恐，因为，根据哈里斯医疗中心的报告显示，这四名华裔死者均死于谋杀，每个死者的头部都有中枪。

梁文薔記先父二三事
【編者註：梁文薔是梁實秋的幼女，1933出生於青島，成長於北平，现居西雅圖，抗戰末年曾就讀重慶南開中學，畢業於台灣大學農業化學系，1958赴美求學，在伊利諾伊大學獲得食品營養學碩士學位，華盛頓大學高等教育博士學位。在海滨社区学院教授营养学26年，1999年退休，閑暇之餘從事藝事和寫作。本文係由梁口述及其兩本著作《長相思》與《春華秋實》中之片段組合而成，由梁文薔重慶南開中學同學趙鐘英老師轉發給波士頓雙語網編輯部。】
1903年父親出生於北京。祖父梁咸熙是前清秀才，同文館（註：清政府於1862年末在北京設立的用於培養外交和翻譯人員的學校，是中國第一所新式學校）英文班第一班學生。1912年，北京發生兵變，梁家被變兵洗劫，從此家道中落。祖父在警察局任職，不愁生活，以讀書為樂。梁家是一個傳統的中式大家庭，父親很小時，祖父便請來一位老先生，在家裡教幾個孩子，為父親打下了很好的古文功底。很多讀者都喜歡他的《雅舍小品》等作品，我想原因之一就在於他把文言和白話結合在一起，既清新雅緻，又有幽幽古意，用典多而不生澀，這都應歸功於早期教育賦予的他在中國古典文學上的修養。父親14歲那年，祖父的一位朋友勸告他投考清華。雖然同在北京城，但在那時是一個重大的決定，因為這個學校遠在郊外，而父親是一個老式家庭中長大的孩子，從來沒有獨自在外闖蕩過，要捆起鋪蓋到一個陌生的地方去住，不是一件尋常之事；況且在這個學校經過8年之後便要漂洋過海背井離鄉到新大陸去求學，更是難以想象的事。所以祖母知道祖父的決定後，便急得哭起來。父親很順利地考上清華。

宋祖英24年首次缺席春晚、纽约飞歌
【中新网（记者李洋）】美国时间2月1日晚，美国纽约著名的艺术殿堂——林肯中心灯火辉煌。新春佳节之际，宋祖英来到这里参演纽约爱乐乐团第三届中国新年音乐会，在中美两地引发不少关注。
宋祖英当晚为纽约听众演唱的三首曲目是《小背篓》、《苗岭飞歌》和《大地飞歌》，均是她的经典唱段。记者看到主办方制作的节目单上还特别配有三首曲目的英文全译文。

Boston Public Schools Closed on Wednesday with Snowstorm in the Forecast
Boston, Feb. 4, 2014, — Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced City response plans for the winter storm expected to begin early tomorrow morning. The Mayor has declared a Snow Emergency and Parking Ban for the City of Boston, in effect tonight, Tuesday, February 4, at 11:00 p.m. Boston Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 5. City Hall will be open for business as usual.
“Our team is ready for this storm,” Mayor Walsh said. “We’re expecting a very difficult morning commute, and for that reason we’re urging everyone to use public transportation to travel in and around the city tomorrow.”
