  • Ten States Remain on MA’s COVID Low Risk List

    Boston, Sept. 19, 2020, — Only ten states are now on Massachusetts’ lower-risk state list as of yesterday. Wyoming was removed from the list on Friday.

    Travelers from COVID-19 lower-risk States are not required to fill out the Massachusetts Travel Form and do not need to quarantine. States are included on the list based on meeting two criteria: average daily cases per 100K below 6 AND positive test rate below 5%, both measured as a 7-day rolling average.  Data is from covidexitstrategy.org as of September 16, 2020.

    The current list of COVID-19 lower-risk states includes:

    • Colorado
    • Connecticut
    • Maine
    • New Hampshire
    • New Jersey
    • New Mexico
    • New York
    • Oregon
    • Vermont
    • Washington

    Massachusetts residents are urged to limit any out-of-State travel only to States designated as COVID-19 lower-risk States.

  • 安泰殡仪馆颁发「富有同情心服务奖」

    【波士顿双语网讯】麻州公共卫生部（DPH）发布的数据显示，麻州9月15日新增6例新冠肺炎（COVID-19）死亡，麻州总死亡人数达到9016。当天麻州新增286例COVID-19确诊，总确诊人数达到123425。

    为感谢疫情期间一线医护人员为患者和家庭提供的特殊护理和奉献精神，麻州安泰殡仪馆和火葬服务近日自豪地宣布，向十位敬业且有爱心的医疗服务提供者颁发了2020年「富有同情心服务奖」，以表彰他们的无私奉献精神。十位获奖者中的每位都获得了对他们的服务的认可，并由安泰殡仪馆和火葬服务奖励了500美元，同时还向他们各自的医疗机构颁发了250美元的支票，以表彰每位获奖者。

    据悉，十位获奖者分别是Bethany at Home的康明斯（Mattie Cummings）、米尔顿镇以色列医院的德利（Nicole Daly）、HopeHealth Hospice的利特尔顿（Tammy Littleton）、昆西市的吴女士（ Jie Qun Wu）以及Care Dimensions的康诺利（Elena Connelly）、弗洛雷斯（Juana Flores）、勒穆雷（Dale Lemure）、丹巴（Mildred Tamba）、托雷斯（Veronica Torres）和韦万科（Claudia Vivanco）。

    安泰殡仪馆和火葬服务部门总裁古莱特（Christopher Goulet）先生说：「我们很荣幸地为今年首届获奖者以及他们的富有同情心的服务和奉献精神表示敬意。我们收到众多的申请，并了解医疗保健提供者对社区生活产生的巨大影响。这是一群特殊的人，他们选择进入医疗领域为他们的患者和客户提供最佳护理。感谢这些富有同情心的服务提供者。」

    麻州最大的临终关怀服务提供机构Care Dimensions总裁艾哈恩（Patricia Ahern）女士表示：「我非常荣幸我们的六个临终关怀助手入选该奖项，以表彰他们富有同情心的护理。特别是在COVID- 19疫情期间，我们的临终关怀助手克服超越了以往困难，继续为患者提供上门服务，熟练的护理设施以及生活辅助。他们一直在社区的最前线，提供重症监护并帮助患者和家人减少孤独感。我为他们的奉献和同情心感到非常自豪。」

    安泰殡仪馆通过提供传统的中国丧葬服务，已成为麻州亚洲社区的重要资源，其中包括一群受过中文培训的员工，他们经过培训可以在葬礼过程中为家人和客人提供帮助。团队成员致力于提供出色而富有同情心的服务，有些工作人员会说广东话、普通话、台山话、福州话和越南语等多种语言。

  • Dr. Man-Chung Tang Talks about Traveling to China During Covid-19 Pandemic

    Chongqing, China, Sept. 9, 2020 – Dr. Man-Chung Tang, Chairman of the Board of T.Y.Lin International and member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, made his way back to Chongqing from New York after purchasing the 10th flight ticket in half a year. He talked about his experience of trying to get back to China.

    During China’s Spring Festival, Dr. Tang and his wife flew to Africa for their vacation. The outbreak of COVID-19 in China changed its plan of going back. Instead, they flew to New York at the end of January.

  • UCLA教授批评209提案分析报告漏洞百出

    【波士顿双语网加州洛杉矶2020年9月8日讯】1996年在加州公投通过的209号法案，该法案禁止在公共就业，公共教育或公共合同中使用种族肤色作为考量因素。随着大选迫近，今年16号公投提案就是要废除209号法案对机会平等的保证。

    两周前柏克莱加大的研究生Zachary Bleemer发表了一篇论文，该论文试图指控《 209号提案》不因种族肤色给予歧视或特殊对待的种族中立原则，伤害了曾经申请或是就学于加州大学的少数族裔的学生。

    加州大学洛杉矶分校任教的杰出经济学家Richard Sander（上图）特别就此发表了一份反驳报告，指出Zachary Bleemer的主要结论明显与目前加大网路上公开的申请就学的数据相户矛盾。Sander教授还批评加州大学办公室禁止Zachary Bleemer与任何其他学者共享他的研究数据此举明显有违学术界交流共享的原则。

    明天是美国的劳工节，著名华人医生温麟衍（Dr. Leana Wen）在脸书上分享了如果安全度过节日的5点建议。两年前，马里兰州巴尔的摩华裔卫生局长温麟衍获委任非营利组织美国计划生育协会（Planned Parenthood）第六任新主席，是该组织50年来首位医生主席，引起全美各界的高度关注。她曾经大力反对特朗普政府在全国削减青年避孕教育的拨款，并且强调病人权益及福祉是行医首要工作。

    温麟衍（上图右）1983年1月27日出生于上海，1990年跟随家人来美，当时温麟衍才7岁。温麟衍13岁获加州州立大学洛杉矶分校（UCLA）少年班录取，18岁取得生化系学士资格，其后入读华盛顿大学医学院，并且成为哈佛大学临床医学研究员，又获得罗德奖学金（Rhodes Scholarship）在牛津大学修读公共卫生课程。

  • “Election Protection” Coalition Flags Vote-by-Mail Issues In Primary Election in MA

    BOSTON — Massachusetts experienced a momentous Primary Election with the inaugural roll-out of vote-by-mail (VBM) and the first extended early voting period for a Primary Election. As a result, the Bay State saw record voter turn-out and participation. However, Lawyers for Civil Rights (LCR) observed significant confusion and recorded serious concerns surrounding VBM.
