Governor Elect Charles Baker and State Senator Anthony Petruccelli attended the grand opening of Top Bread Bakery on Dec. 11. Mayor Walsh was in Chinatown a week earlier for the tree lighting event.

  • CACA Boston Lodge Honors CHSNE as It Relaunches

    Boston, Dec. 16, 2014, — Chinese American Citizens Alliance (CACA) relaunched its Boston Lodge Charter and held Inauguration Gala in the evening of Dec. 13 at Hei La Moon restaurant in Boston Chinatown. Chinese Historical Society of New England (CHSNE) was honored at the Gala as their “2015 Community Organization of the Year.”

  • A Major Step Forward for U.S. Economic Recovery in 2014

    The U.S. economic recovery took a major step forward in 2014, achieving a number of important milestones. American businesses set a new record for the most consecutive months of job growth: now 57 straight months and counting. By November, the economy had already added more jobs than in any full calendar year since the 1990s. And crucially, the pickup in job growth during 2014 occurred primarily in higher-paying industries, while nearly all of the employment gains have been in full-time positions. At the same time, the unemployment rate fell below 6 percent for the first time since 2008.

  • Chinese Women Entrepreneur Philanthropy Learning Journey Comes to Boston

    Dec. 4, 2014, — As Chinese entrepreneurs are increasingly involved in philanthropy, there is an increasing demand among them to learn more about strategic philanthropy and social innovation from the United States.  In part to respond to that demand and in part to fulfill our own mission, PhilanSci Advisory, LLC, a Boston-Based firm to promote impactful philanthropy in China, together with China Foundation Center and Institute of Civil Society at Sun Yat-Sen University, are organizing a study tour program on philanthropy for Chinese Women Entrepreneurs to visit the States in December 2014. The group will be in Boston during December 8-13, and San Francisco during December 14-19.
