Boston, Jan. 6, 2013, — Before a crowd of thousands, including residents, supporters, political leaders, faith leaders and dignitaries, Mayor Martin J. Walsh this morning took the oath of office and was sworn in as the 54th Mayor of the City of Boston. In a ceremony that also included the swearing-in of the Boston City Council, Mayor Walsh delivered his inaugural address, committing to moving a united Boston forward, a City that provides community, opportunity, and equality to all its citizens. Lexington, Mass., Jan. 6, 2013, — While we are celebrating the new year with family and friends and feeling grateful for what we have, it is also time to think about the less fortunate people. With a very saddened heart, we’d like to tell you about an unspeakable tragedy involving a former Lexington resident and her relatives as we ask the community to reach out and help the families.
Miss. Cong (Lisa) Ma, a graduate of Troy University, and four others passed away in a Dec. 2013 accident.

BCPA Ends 2013 with Indoors Photography Event and Lecture
Boston, Jan. 6, 2014, — Boston Chinese Photographers’ Association (BCPA) wrapped up a year full of dramas and activities with a lecture at Framingham Public Library on Dec. 22, 2013. Over 20 members attended the lecture, and nine of them shared pictures they took in 2013.

Chinese Consulate in San Francisco Damaged during New Year’s Day Arson Attack
China on Thursday urged the United States to take “effective measures” to protect its diplomatic institutions and staff, and prevent similar incidents following an arson attack on a Chinese consulate-general.

Snow Emergency and Parking Ban in Effect on Boston’s First Work Day of 2014
Mayor Thomas M. Menino today declared a Snow Emergency and parking ban for the City of Boston will take effect TOMORROW, Thursday, January 2 at NOON. Boston Public Schools will be CLOSED FRIDAY, January 3. City business will be as usual tomorrow. Discounted parking will be available at 10 a.m. at several parking lots and garages to cars that display Boston resident parking stickers: http://www.cityofboston.gov/snow/parkingmap.asp
