  • MIT Dedicated Monumental Sculpture by Internationally Renowned Artist Cai Guo-Qiang

    Cambridge – In the evening of May 10, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) dedicated Ring Stone (2010) by internationally renowned artist Cai Guo-Qiang in front of the new Sloan building at 100 Main Street. The monumental white granite sculpture is the artist’s first public work of art for a university campus. Located in the north garden adjacent to the MIT Sloan School of Management, the artwork celebrates the Sloan School’s educational and cultural ties with China and will be on permanent display.

  • Michael Wong Among Volunteers of the Year at Boston Main Streets’ 16th Annual Awards Ceremony

    Boston – Mayor Thomas M. Menino, together with Department of Neighborhood Development Director Evelyn Friedman, WPLM Easy 99.1’s “Strictly Sinatra” host Ron Della Chiesa, and the Boston Latin School Wolftones presented awards at the Boston Main Streets (BMS) 16th Annual Awards Ceremony, which took place at the majestic Strand Theatre in Dorchester on May 17. Awards were presented to the 2011 Boston Main Streets Volunteers of the Year and Businesses of the Year.

  • Tufts University Unveils Plans for New Medical Research Laboratory to Focus on Tuberculosis

    BOSTON – Tufts University today announced that it will seek approval from the Boston Public Health Commission to build a 1,700 square foot biosafety level 3 research laboratory within its School of Medicine’s existing Biomedical Research and Public Health Building at 136 Harrison Avenue. The Arnold 8 Biosafety Laboratory will enable Tufts researchers to find new ways to detect, prevent and treat serious infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, for which treatments exist but for which new therapeutics are needed.

  • Governor Patrick Breaks Ground on First-in-the-Nation Biomanufacturing Center at UMass Dartmouth

    FALL RIVER – Wednesday, May 16, 2012 – Governor Deval Patrick today broke ground on the $28 million Massachusetts Accelerator for Biomanufacturing (MAB) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The facility, a result of Governor Patrick’s $1 billion Life Sciences Initiative, is expected to create 120 construction jobs and ten permanent jobs and strengthen Massachusetts’ standing as a world leader in the life sciences industry.

  • Boston Erhu Ensemble To Delight Chinese Music Fans on June 2

    On Saturday, June 2, Boston Erhu Ensemble will present a Chinese music concert at the First United Methodist Church, (645 Main St.), in Melrose at 7 PM. This concert will feature both traditional Chinese folk songs as well as arrangements of contemporary music pieces, and bring joy to many traditional Chinese music lovers in the greater Boston area.

  • Governor Patrick To Visit Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center on May 15
