The Color Purple is a Boston theater premiere (Jan10—Feb 8, 2014) of the acclaimed Broadway musical based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel written by Alice Walker. Since its publication in 1982, this novel has sold more than 5 million copies in 22 languages. The Warner Bros/Amblin Entertainment motion picture “The Color Purple” opened December 20, 1985, was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover and Laurence Fishburne.

“Cultures of China, Festival of spring” Returns to Boston on Feb. 16, 2014
Boston, Jan. 14, 2014, — “Cultures of China, Festival of spring” event is a global celebration organized annually by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is one of the largest cultural celebrations of the Chinese Lunar New Year around the world.
Beijing Opera artists Yu Kuizhi, Li Shengsu will perform at “Cultures of China, Festival of spring” Boston stop on Feb. 16.

BCPA Ends 2013 with Indoors Photography Event and Lecture
Boston, Jan. 6, 2014, — Boston Chinese Photographers’ Association (BCPA) wrapped up a year full of dramas and activities with a lecture at Framingham Public Library on Dec. 22, 2013. Over 20 members attended the lecture, and nine of them shared pictures they took in 2013.

Mayor Menino Kicks off 38th Annual First Night Boston
Mayor Thomas M. Menino today held the city’s annual First Night public safety press conference, encouraging people to come to Boston to ring in the New Year during the 38th Annual First Night celebration. Officials from the Boston Police Department, Boston Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and the MBTA reminded revelers to celebrate the holiday safely and encouraged visitors to take advantage of public transportation when traveling through the city.

GBAAYSO to Present Christmas Concert at LHS

This Saturday, GBAAYSO will return to Lexington with a Christmas concert that features Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 at Lexington High School (LHS) auditorium.

Now, Commonwealth Ballet Company (CBC) in Acton Mass. has brought a production of The Nutcracker to Metro West area. You can enjoy this wonderful production by talented young ballet dancers at Regis College in Weston, Mass. the weekend before Christmas.
