  • Zigen Fund’s Harvard Charity Concert Features World-Class Opera Singers and Chorus

    In the afternoon of March 3, 2013, Zigen Fund will present a Charity Concert at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University. This concert features award-winning opera singers Guang Yang and Jing Wei. Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus(BEHC) and its conductor Wanjun Qiao, the recent winners of 2012 World Choral Festival at Vienna’s Golden Hall of the Musikverein Concert, will also join this charity concert.   • Queen of Chinese Folk Music Song Zuying Comes To Radio City Music Hall

    Song Zuying, the acclaimed Chinese soprano widely considered the “Reigning Queen” of Chinese folk songs, is embarking on a concert tour of the United States this coming February. Her New York concert, together with the American Symphony Orchestra and its Chorus, will be held at the Radio City Music Hall at 7 PM on February 16, 2013.

  • West Meets East Concert To Be Held on Feb. 16 as Boston Celebrates Chinese New Year

    Yan-Huang Performing Arts Corporation was established by Hong Jiang in 1999 and is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

    In order to fulfill our mission, we have annual concert series “West Meets East”. The series are comprised of concerts where Eastern and Western music and artists are brought together to offer people an opportunity to discover and appreciate the difference, commonality, and mutual influence of the two musical worlds.

    Since 1999 we have held sold-out concerts at Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall and Sanders Theater in Boston and at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York. We are proud to present the 2013 West Meets East Concert at Jordan Hall featuring some of the well-respected musicians in Boston area. It will be a great night of Chinese and Western music as we celebrate the beginning of Year of Snake, which starts on Feb. 10.

In that email, Mr. Gee mentioned that David Li’s review article Never to Be Forgotten – Lost Years Documents Struggles of Early Chinese Immigrants has been quoted on the back cover of DVD of the documentary film Lost Years.   • Wu Ying Vocal Studio 2013 Concert To Be Held on Jan. 12 in Lexington

    Ying Wu, a mezzo-soprano, B.A. in Vocal Performance from Hangzhou Normal University, China. After her graduation, she performed as a soloist with the Performing Arts of Beijing Postal. In 2007, Ms. Wu played the title role in opera “Carmen” with Zhejiang Opera and Dance Drama Theatre. She also taught vocal performances in Beijing Zhongyin Arts School and Hangzhou Municipal Art Center for Youth.

  • BU Student Olivia Culpo Won Miss Universe Crown

    LAS VEGAS (AP)–A 20-year-old Boston University sophomore and a self-described “cellist-nerd” brought the Miss Universe crown back to the United States for the first time in more than a decade when she won the televised contest Wednesday.

  • BEHC Won Gold Prize at 2012 World Choral Festival

    In the evening of December 5, 2012, the world-famous Vienna’s Golden Hall of the Musikverein Concert was packed. Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus(BEHC) performed in the closing ceremony of the World Choral Festival of Adults and Seniors. Conductor Mr. Qiao Wanjun walked up to the central station. With a gently gesture from Mr. Qiao to the piano accompaniment Guo Ling, the audience was instantly quiet, silent.
