New York Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade Meets Super Bowl Sunday

New York City, Feb. 2, 2014, — The 15th Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival was held today in Manhattan. Thousands of residents, tourists and Super Bowl fans enjoyed this annual celebration. And the celebration of Year of Horse might really be a good sign for the Denver Broncos who will play against Seattle Sea Hawks in Super Bowl XLVIII in Metlife Stadium eleven miles from New York Chinatown at 6:30 PM this evening.

Chinese New Year Flower Marketplace Brings Visitors to Boston Chinatown
Boston, Jan. 30, 2014, — The Chinese New Year flower marketplace is being held from Jan. 26 to 30 this year in the public square of Boston Chinatown. The flower market was announced by Tony Yee at the Chinatown Main Street annual gala on Jan. 11, and has drown a lot of visitors to the market under a big tent despite of the cold weather.

Hung Goon, Winner of CCBA-NE and CNC Elections

Boston, Dec. 6, 2013, — In two elections over three days in Boston Chinatown at beginning of this month, Mr. Hung Goon came out as a winner. In the Dec. 3 CCBA-NE election, Hung Good won 23 votes from CCBA-NE board members, edging Simon Chan’s 21 votes. The Chinatown Neighborhood Council (CNC) election on Dec. 1 was not as close. Goon, who was up for reelection, received 1151 votes from Asian residents, and got the most votes among the eight councilors elected or reelected.
Candidates like Nicholas Kang You, a youth worker at Boston Asian: Youth Essential Service (YES), may be one of the reasons of large number of young voters turning out in this year’s CNC election.

2013 ACDC Annual Meeting Looks Forward to One Greenway

Boston, Nov. 20, 2013, — Over 250 guests attended Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC)’s annual meeting and dinner on Nov 12, 2013 at Hei La Moon restaurant in Chinatown. The theme of the evening was “A Hudson Street Reunion.” There were many guests with family connections to Hudson street, site of the highly anticipated One Greenway project.

Grew up in Hong Kong, Connie Chan Competes for Miss Friendship Ambassador Pageant
Audience Choice Award is a new award category being introduced this year in the Miss Friendship Ambassador pageant (MFA) pageant. Each online vote is worth one point. The pageant will be held on November 3 at Hilton Chicago Hotel. That evening, guests will be given one ballot each, worth 10 points to cast their choice. The contestant who gets the most combined votes wins this award.

Tufts Medical Center To Host Free Cancer Screenings for Uninsured and Underserved Women on Oct. 26
Boston, October 22, 2013, –- For the fourth straight year, Tufts Medical Center will host See, Test & Treat®, a free cervical and breast cancer screening program, funded through grants from the CAP Foundation. The program features same day tests results, diagnoses and follow-up care for uninsured and underserved women ages 21 and older. In addition, this year’s program will include free pediatric kidney screenings for children ages five to 18. The program will take place on Saturday, October 26, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the OB/GYN clinic on the second floor of Tufts Medical Center’s South Building (860 Washington Street in Boston).

Free Cancer Screenings for Women to Be Offered at Tufts Medical Center
Boston, Oct. 15, 2013, — You may have noticed the pink ribbons on the jerseys of NFL and MLB players lately. October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. College of American Pathologists (CAP) member pathologists, together with a team of health care professionals, donate their time and expertise to deliver same-day screening, results, and connection to follow-up care. Tufts Medical Center will host a See, Test & Treat free cancer screening for women on Oct. 26. See the poster below for registration information.
