Boston, Sept. 8, 2017, — Following reports of a major data breach at credit reporting agency Equifax Inc. compromising the personal information of hundreds of millions of consumers nationwide and nearly three million in Massachusetts, Attorney General Maura Healey today launched an investigation into the breach and urged consumers to take immediate steps to protect their information against identity theft.

Rachel Skerritt Named Headmaster of Boston Latin School
Boston, March 23, 2017 – Boston Public Schools (BPS) Superintendent Tommy Chang announced today that he has chosen veteran school leader and former BPS chief of staff, Rachel Skerritt, as Boston Latin School’s 28th headmaster. Ms. Skerritt, who graduated from Boston Latin School (BLS) in 1995 and taught English at her alma mater, will become the first person of color and the third woman to lead the institution in its 382-year-history.

MA Ranked First in Nation by National Education Publication
Education Week’s Annual Quality Counts Report Also Names Commonwealth First in K-12 Achievement and First on the Publication’s Chance for Success Index
Boston, Jan. 4, 2017, — Today, the national publication Education Week released the 21st edition of its annual Quality Counts report on state education systems and for the third year in a row listed Massachusetts first in the nation in overall quality. The Commonwealth was also top in the nation on two of the indices that went into the overall ranking: K-12 achievement and the publication’s Chance for Success Index, which considers outcomes from early childhood through adulthood.
