  • Math Teacher Colleen Ritzer Leaves Legacy of Kindness

    Boston, Oct. 24, 2013, — For once, you won’t read the name of the suspect. Let’s remember the victim and honor her legacy. Danvers High School math teacher Colleen Ritzer, 24, was brutally murdered on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The Boston Red Sox held a Moment of Silence for Colleen Ritzer at Fenway Park before Game One of the World Series.

  • 中国传统曲艺走进历史名城莱克星顿

    【波士顿华人双语网讯】麻省理工学院（MIT）的浮云相声社走出校园的第一场演出在打响美国独立战争第一枪的莱克星顿镇举行。19日晚，莱克星顿高中的科学报告演讲厅里欢声笑语，MIT高材生把相声说到了这个大波士顿地区的著名高中。近200名观众包括莱克星顿镇的高中和初中中文班学生，以及该镇常青会老年华人群体。

  • Lihong Wang Wins NIH Highly Competitive Transformative Research Award

    Cancer researchers have been limited by current imaging technology in their ability to detect not only structure and function of tumors, but also tumor cell circulation. A technology proposed by Lihong Wang, PhD, at Washington University in St. Louis, may hold the key to reaching this goal.

  • Tufts Medical Center To Host Free Cancer Screenings for Uninsured and Underserved Women on Oct. 26

    Boston, October 22, 2013, –- For the fourth straight year, Tufts Medical Center will host See, Test & Treat®, a free cervical and breast cancer screening program, funded through grants from the CAP Foundation. The program features same day tests results, diagnoses and follow-up care for uninsured and underserved women ages 21 and older. In addition, this year’s program will include free pediatric kidney screenings for children ages five to 18. The program will take place on Saturday, October 26, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the OB/GYN clinic on the second floor of Tufts Medical Center’s South Building (860 Washington Street in Boston).

  • 红红相争 职棒世界大赛今晚芬威开幕

    【波士顿华人双语网李强10月23日综合报道】红色是今年美国职棒大联盟（MLB）最流行的颜色。波士顿红袜队和圣路易斯红雀队今晚将在芬威棒球场揭开2013年MLB世界大赛（World Series）的帷幕，福克斯电视台将从东部时间晚8点开始直播本场比赛。红雀队是国家联盟的老牌劲旅，近年来成绩一直不错。而红袜队去年小组垫底，在162场球赛的常规赛季仅仅取得69场胜利。今年红袜队在引进多位新球员和新的主教练法罗（John Farrell）之后，创造了从最差到最棒的奇迹，一举赢得97场胜利，并在季后赛中击败魔鱼队和老虎队，顺利打入世界大赛。

  • 关于远流的回忆：从两岸人读《约翰科利斯多夫》说起

    若干年前，甫出校门开始工作，除了基层员工外，主管兼拍档清一色来自台湾。有一天发现他闲遐时正在读《约翰科利斯多夫》，于是很好奇地想看看两岸的翻译风格有什么异同，不曾想居然也是傅老的版本，于是话题就扯了开去。在渐渐地谈到了本行后，自然也就谈到了电影。由于两地对电影和人物的翻译差别实在太大，往往是通过描述情节才得知对方在说那部电影。临下班前，他去宿舍拿了几本杂志来让我翻翻，这就是如今已成为图腾符号的《影响》。正当我对那些早期影片的剧照和大师们的形象兴趣正浓时，他忽然莫名其妙地让我晚上加班！

    【波士顿华人双语网讯】凯博电脑教育（Kapparate Computer Education）的两位学生，艾克顿-波斯宝路高中的吴威利（Willy Wu）和莱克星顿高中的浦以皜（Betsy Pu）在凯博电脑教师浦以波（Ben Pu）的带领下，十月上旬参加了著名的林肯实验室全国网上教育创新竞赛(Lincoln Labs National Education Competition)。吴威利和浦以皜设计、开发的Java编程教育软件，在众多的参赛选手中脱颖而出，获得第一名。

  • Ang Lee to Appear at BAAFF, Give Talks at Harvard and Wellesley

    Boston, Oct. 21, 2013, — Later this week, Ang Lee, Oscar winning director of Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, will visit Boston and appear in a few local events. Local fans of Ang Lee have reserved many of these events weeks ahead, and the best chance you have to meet director Ang Lee maybe the Oct. 26 event at Wellesley College.
