    WASHINGTON, DC – On Thursday, July 25th, the White House will honor Lydia Brown as one of eight “Champions of Change” who embody the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This next generation of leaders for the disability community represents the progress that has been made as a result of the ADA and the continued struggle for full equality. They are advocates, role models and true champions for their cause.   • Lin and Jhang Each Got a Hit in First Head-to-head Match

    Lowell, Mass., July 16, 2013, — When Tzu-WeI Lin and Jing-De Jhang met at the infield grass of LeLacheur Park a couple hours before the 5:05 PM game on July 14, they couldn’t stop joking with each other. Both are second year professional baseball players from Taiwan with infectious smiles. When the Sun set over the Merrimack River behind the ballpark in the evening, Jhang walked away with a bigger smile on his face as Jamestown Jammers shut out Lowell Spinners for a 1:0 victory.

  • Explosion Hits Beijing Airport

    BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) — An explosion occurred Saturday evening at Terminal 3 of the Beijing Capital International Airport, police said.

    刘远立教授简介：哈佛大学公共卫生学院中国项目部主任，博士生导师，清华大学公共管理学院卫生与发展研究中心主任。刘远立于 1987年获得同济医科大学医学硕士学位， 1988年获得哈佛大学科学硕士学位， 1995年获得明尼苏达大学哲学博士学位。 1994年起任职于美国哈佛大学公共卫生学院，从事国际卫生政策与管理的科研和教学工作长达16年，是 “卫生体系学 ”创始人之一，并从 2000年至今在哈佛大学担任该学科的博士生导师。 2005年被任命为哈佛大学公共卫生学院中国项目部主任，负责领导哈佛大学与中国在医疗卫生领域的学术交流与合作，其中包括： 1.与中国卫生部合作举办 “中国卫生发展与改革高级国际研修班 ”（300多名毕业生分别来自中央和各省、市负责卫生与社会发展的厅局长和大型医院院长）; 2.开展重大卫生政策与管理问题的应用性研究; 3.与中央党校合作举办 “中国社会发展论坛 ”。2006年又被清华大学公共管理学院聘为卫生与发展研究中心主任，负责领导中心围绕健康发展和卫生政策领域开展学术研究、政策咨询和教育培训等活动。

    【僑報周末特約記者李強波士頓報道】大家可能對獲得奧斯卡獎的動畫片《尋找尼莫》(Finding Nemo)中金魚尼莫從魚缸逃回大海的驚險場景還記憶猶新。8月4日下午，從波士頓海港開出的克萊門斯 (Samuel Clemens)號游輪上，龍蝦、海魚等一些幸運的海洋動物將被投回到大海中。這將是繼今年5月份之後，波士頓行願凈宗學會組織的又一次海上放生活動。

  • 慈善家奥斯卡·唐迎娶美女徐心眉

    【波士顿双语网2013年7月综合报道】在2008年曾经给菲利普-安多福高中捐款2500万美元的奥斯卡·唐（Oscar Tang）日前在弗吉尼亚州举行婚礼。出生于上海的奥斯卡·唐今年74岁，新娘是41岁的考古学家徐心眉 （Hsin-Mei Hsu）博士。婚礼在一座历史悠久的基督教堂举行，由牧师Barbara A. Cullom主持。

  • Community Marches to Remain, Reclaim, and Rebuild Boston Chinatown

    BOSTON, July 17, 2013 – About 200 Chinatown residents and their supporters marched, drummed, and sang their way through Chinatown today in a protest action called “Tour R Chinatown.” Sponsored by the Chinese Progressive Association and the Right to the City Alliance, participants called for “public land for the public good” and support for community land trusts to stabilize affordable housing in working class neighborhoods.

  • City Issues Heat Advisory amid Third Head Wave This Summer

    Boston, July 17, 2013, — Mayor Thomas M. Menino today issued a heat advisory reminding residents to stay safe and healthy as the City enters its third official heat wave of the season. Mayor Menino and the Boston Public Health Commission are urging residents to stay hydrated and in shaded or air conditioned areas whenever possible.
