Today I’m celebrating my 29th birthday with family and friends. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to spend this year focusing on Boston, talking with residents, and working to make our city better for families in every neighborhood.

【波士頓華人雙語網實習記者王曉晶2014年1月12日圖文報導】華埠主街於1月11日晚在喜臨門大酒店舉行了隆重的迎新春暨年度籌款晚會。晚會遍邀约200名各界知名人士參與，並在享用中國傳統美食的同時欣賞來自超武館的醒獅、中華武術、茉莉花舞蹈團的精彩表演。今年的晚會還邀請了書法家和彩面藝術家在一旁進行書法和藝術彩面的展示和拍賣，現場氣氛逐漸推向高潮。

Boston, Jan. 14, 2014, — “Cultures of China, Festival of spring” event is a global celebration organized annually by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is one of the largest cultural celebrations of the Chinese Lunar New Year around the world.
Beijing Opera artists Yu Kuizhi, Li Shengsu will perform at “Cultures of China, Festival of spring” Boston stop on Feb. 16.

【波士顿华人双语网2014年1月14日综合报道】离2月16日的“文化中国•四海同春”波士顿站的演出还有一个月的时间，波士顿地区的华人已经通过网站和中文学校等华人团体争购演出门票。波士顿亚文中心工作人员称波士顿站门票已经所剩不多了。波士顿是2014“文化中国•四海同春”美国巡演的最后一站，其他演出地点还包括洛杉矶（2月7日）、西雅图（2月9日）和芝加哥（2月13日）。

As you may have heard, Mayor Walsh has appointed Alejandra St. Guillen as the new Director of the Office of New Bostonians. Alejandra is a great leader with energy, commitment and a big vision. I know that the work of making sure that all New Bostonians have a voice and the opportunities to participate fully in all aspects of life in Boston is in good hands with Alejandra’s and Mayor Walsh’s leadership.

【波士顿华人双语网记者李强2014年1月12日综合报道】在过去一年中，美国各地华人举行和参加了多项足球赛事。不管是人到中年的沙场老将，还是生龙活虎的中国留学生，大家对足球运动的热情都展现在训练和比赛的一张张图片之中。下面是2013年部分美国华人足球赛事的回顾。
2013新年伊始 艾克顿华人足球队新年冒雪训练
许多人的新年愿望都是在2013年身体更健康。新年伊始，不少华人就行动了起来。从2013年元旦开始，艾克顿华人足球队的铁杆球迷们不惧严寒，已经在元旦当天和接下来的两个周末经行了5场训练比赛，每次都有20多人参加。该足球队2014年元旦也举行了新年训练，有20多位球员冒着华氏20度的严寒参加。

【波士顿华人双语网特约记者李心茗2014年1月13日综合报道】《纽约邮报》1月12日刊登了标题为“国会议员之弟可能面对猝死案指控”（Rep.’s brother may face charges in hazing death）的报道，称Pi Delta Psi兄弟会全国执行主席孟昭安有可能面对在位于曼哈顿的布鲁克学院（Baruch College）大学生邓俊显(Chun Hsien Deng)参加兄弟会猝死案中面对警方的误杀罪或谋杀罪的指控。孟昭安的律师当天发表声明，斥责《纽约邮报》的报道肆意猜测，没有任何事实依据，目前警方或公诉人没有联系孟昭安。

We appreciate your attention but are disheartened and disappointed by your office’s stance.

1989年夏天，我完成了在哈佛的硕士学业，并获得在本校继续读博士的录取通知，但是继续读书的学费和生活费还没有着落。我们学院不像学校其他的学院那么资金雄厚，特别是我所在的系，几乎没有给学生提供过奖学金。秋季开学了，我因为没有找到钱，不能注册上学。我在学校里找了两份零工，一面打工，一面继续找钱。系主任是个华裔，他在美国长大， 不会说中国话。他告诉我可以去申请Run Run Shaw Scholarship。我不知道Run Run Shaw是何许人也，只听说他是个香港的电影界大亨，成立了一个教育基金。 这个基金只为在我们大学各个学院学习人文专业的华裔博士生提供奖学金，这笔奖学金只能用于生活费，不可用来支付学费。负责这个奖学金的审批和发放的是大学里的基金办公室，奖学金的批准条件是申请人必须已经有了学费的保证。
