【波士顿双语网实习记者王晓晶图文报道】迎新春，过新年，贺新禧。随着新年的到来，1月25日由麻省理工学院（MIT）和东北大学（NEU）联合举办的马年春晚在MIT的“小银蛋”剧场隆重举行。2014年是中国农历甲午年，也是生肖马年。MIT和NEU别出心裁，特意为这次的春晚起了个特别的名字叫“神马扬波”。

Gov. Patrick Delivers State of Commonwealth Address
BOSTON – Tuesday, January 28, 2014 – In his State of the Commonwealth address, Governor Deval Patrick tonight pledged to continue the Administration’s proven strategy of investing in education, innovation and infrastructure to create job growth and economic opportunity across Massachusetts. The Governor discussed how this strategy has positioned Massachusetts as a national leader in student achievement, health care coverage, economic competitiveness, biotechnology, venture capital funding, entrepreneurial activity, energy efficiency and veterans services; and how if continued, will help secure a successful Commonwealth for all residents.

Boston Marches Forward as Year of Snake Ends

Boston, Jan. 27, 2014, — The Chinese New Year of Horse starts this Friday, Jan. 31. It will bring an end of the Year of Snake which was full of dramatic events.
Two bombs interrupted Boston Marathon in the afternoon of April 15 near the finish line on Boylston Street. The picture below has become a symbol of Boston Strong as people of Boston dealt with the aftermath of the bombings.

Li Na: Aussie Win Better Than French
(from ecns.cn) Chinese star Li Na said Saturday winning the Australian Open title was more satisfying than her Grand Slam breakthrough at the French Open because of the tough preparations that went into it.
When she won at Roland Garros in 2011, it was the first Grand Slam title by an Asian player and enormously raised the profile of not only Li, but tennis in the region.
