Boston, Dec. 24, 2018, — Earlier this year, Matthew Teitelbaum, Ann and Graham Gund Director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), announced that Christina Yu Yu has been appointed as the Matsutaro Shoriki Chair, Art of Asia. An alumna of Wellesley College and Boston University, Ms. Yu (pictured below) returned to Boston and assumed her new role at the MFA.

Chinese American World War II Veterans Congressional Gold Medal Act Becomes Law
San Francisco, December 21, 2018, — The Chinese American World War II Veterans Recognition Project, a program of the National Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) Community Involvement Fund, a federally recognized non-profit organization, is pleased to announce that on Thursday, December 20, President Donald Trump has signed the Chinese American WWII Veterans Congressional Gold Medal Act into law. Chinese Americans who served in the six branches of the United States Armed Services during WWII are finally getting the honor and recognition long due them.

US Vs. Huawei CFO Meng / 美国对孟晚舟的指控
Wanzhou Meng (“Meng”), also known as “Cathy Meng” and “Sabrina Meng,” is the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) of Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (Huawei”), a corporation organized under the laws of the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”) and the world’s largest telecommunications equipment company. Meng is a citizen of the PRC and a daughter of Huawei’s founder, Ren Zhengfei. In addition to her role as CFO, Meng currently serves as Huawei’s Deputy Chairwoman of the Board, and serves or has served in various roles at other Huawei subsidiaries and affiliates. Meng also served on the board of Hong Kong-based Skycom Tech Co. Ltd. (“Skycom”) in or about and between February 2008 and April 2009. According to financial statements for Skycom for the years 2009 and 2010, the “principal activities of Skycom were engaged in [sic] investment holding and acting as a contractor for contracts undertaking [sic] in Iran.”

Chinese Embassy Protests Huawei CFO Meng’s Arrest in Canada
Boston, Dec. 5, 2018, — The Chinese embassy in Canada voiced its “firm opposition” to the reported arrest of Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of China’s Huawei Technologies today. The Canadian police, at the request of the US, arrested a Chinese citizen who did not violate any US or Canadian laws, the embassy said in a statement posted on its official website.

Boston Nonprofit CAHF to Sponsor 2019 Rose Parade Float “Harmony Through Union”
Boston, Oct. 28, 2018, — The Chinese American Heritage Foundation (CAHF), a community-driven organization in Boston Chinatown that promotes the recognition and appreciation of the historical contributions made by Chinese-Americans to the United States, is fielding a “Harmony Through Union” float for the 2019 Rose Parade in Pasadena.

Wilson Lee and Esther Lee are also members of Chinese American Citizen’s Alliance (CACA).
